Principal's Reflection

Alleluia! He is risen!

This single event in history changed the course of civilization forever. Power, imperialism, culture, and the hearts of men have never been the same. By conquering death, Our Lord gave us hope and the promise of eternal life. If we truly believe in Christ’s resurrection, our lives ought to be different – inspired by Him.

This Easter season, take time to ask: “How is my life different because of my faith in Christ?” Reflect on the answer and consider how you might continue to walk your faith. Consider how much you pray, attend Mass, read the Bible, serve others in need, and lovingly care for those in your home. This year, let us focus on making Easter the first day in our renewed spiritual journey rather than a single day. May we use Christ’s resurrection to enliven our hearts and to enkindle in us a deeper faith which leads to action.

Our faith in Jesus Christ transforms all we do at St. John the Baptist School. It causes us to create a school environment with faith at the center. Naturally, this means we pray and teach our religion in school, but more to the point, we teach faith in action. This means that we seek to create an environment where children learn to incorporate faith and morals into their daily lives.

Academics are an important part of our school, and we continue to boast test scores that exceed national averages. We are justifiably proud that so many of our alumni graduate at the top of their classes at both Bayport and Notre Dame Academy. But, more importantly, we are proud that the Risen Lord inspires our staff and our families to create an environment where people are loved and feel at home.

Scholastic Book Fair

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.

Our Spring Book Fair will take place during school days, April 29th through May 5th (8:00-3:30 PM). We are also open during the Art Show/Spring Concert on May 3rd from 5:30-7:30 PM

  • Our Book Fair offers eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds and/or invite family and friends to contribute so your child can select their own books. Any unused funds can be spent at The Scholastic Store Online or to fund a future eWallet.
  • If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there! Happy reading!

Planning for Fall

Classroom Placements for 2022-23

Planning for the 2022-23 school year is already underway, and we are blessed to have multiple grade levels with two classes. The staff is therefore charged with the task of creating balanced classes to contribute to the learning environment for all students. We will work to balance classes, distribute learning abilities, place students together in workable groups, and numerous other variables that must be considered.

Although not requested, if parents would like to submit input in the form of a placement request for the 2022-23 school year, they must submit a formal letter with a minimum of two teacher options to the office no later than May 15. Due to the complexity of the process, we may not be able to honor all parent requests. Please note that parents do not need to make a request.

Parents must include in their letter the educational reasons for their requests outlining the specific student needs to be met. Staffing placements and enrollment numbers may fluctuate throughout the summer and requested options may not be available. Please be specific in the needs of your child so that if your request cannot be honored these needs can be reviewed and considered for appropriate placement. All requests will be reviewed, however, we are unable to guarantee that requests will be honored.

We appreciate our parents as partners in their child’s education. Thank you for your understanding of the magnitude of this task and its challenges.

“And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” -Micah 6:8
