For What It's "Earth" 🌎

Happy Earth Day! While today is an especially good day to go green, many of our locally-owned businesses make it part of their mission to be sustainable year-round. Do something good for yourself and Mother Earth this weekend.
  • Cut down your sing-use plastic waste by bringing your own container to Great.full Goods in Agora Downtown Market. Not only do they have cleaning, beauty, laundry, and apothecary items in bulk, but they also carry simple swaps to make your everyday life more sustainable.
  • There are thousands of chemicals found in the products living on bathroom counters and store shelves. withSimplicity educates customers about common, harmful ingredients that are in products you use every day and offers clean alternatives to makeup and skincare products, and more.
  • Sparrows Floral Design has a recycling program where you can bring in vases or pots in good condition and receive a punch card. Get one punch for every 3 items, and when you fill it up there’s a percentage off a future purchase. Plus, they are reducing single-use plastic waste by removing plant food packets from future orders.
  • Buying vintage is a sustainable solution for household items, gifts, and clothing. Vintage stores keep items in circulation to be worn again, used again, and repurposed. They also reuse shopping/grocery bags at check out and repurpose packing, shipping, and wrapping materials. Check out our vintage stores Heartworn Vintage and Water Street Vintage & Bohemian for unique and sustainable finds.
Did you know? One of the most important reasons that buying goods locally helps the environment is because it reduces your “food miles.” By shopping locally, you purchase goods produced in within a few miles of your local community and, by cutting down on these miles, you reduce the environmental impact of your food. Learn more about downtown's local food scene with our 2022 Dining Guide.

Thank You, Shop Hop and
Rocktown Beer & Music Festival Sponsors

Downtown was bustling this past Saturday with TWO signature events celebrating the arrival of spring. From 11 AM - 3 PM, 300 children and families hopped around downtown in search of goodies at the Friendly City Merchants Shop Hop Easter Egg Hunt. Thank you Pendleton Community Bank and Weiler Orthodontics and Invisalign for sponsoring this free community event.

After Shop Hop wrapped up, Turner Pavilion turned up at Rocktown Beer & Music Festival from 3 - 8 PM with over 70 taps, two amazing bands, local food vendors, and 2,147 attendees.

After two years of not being able to host this event, we were fortunate to have gorgeous weather and good times all around thanks to the generosity of our 2022 event sponsors including Presenting Sponsors Pale Fire Brewing Co. and Brothers Craft Brewing.
