International Music
By: Kristen Girardot  (Music Teacher)
Music class is the perfect place to explore folk songs and traditions from all over the world!  This spring we will be learning and creating our very own circle dances using songs from various countries. A circle dance is when the group forms a circle, and then follows a set of directions and steps to the music. From Colombia to Ireland to Nigeria, these group experiences enable students to learn about form, connect in a positive way, and  fun while singing and moving together. Try it at home with your friends and family! A great place to start is with the music of Ireland.  Look up “Rakes of Mallow” or “Irish Stew” and let your creative juices flow!

Campus Spotlight

KidsmART held a family Art workshop on Wednesday, April 20 led by Zeb Hollins and Paul Malbrough. The focus of the workshop was emotions.

Two questions were asked.
1. What are emotions and feelings?
2. How do I express how I feel?

Families were able to asked these questions through Drama and Muppet making. Click here to view more photos on the Dixon Facebook page.
