Hi everyone,

What a great time we had over the Easter weekend. Although I was away in Dorset last week, I heard good reports about the ‘We Remember’ service and Good Friday, and I was so excited to be present on Easter Sunday. What an incredible time in God’s presence, celebrating the reality that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive and active in our lives today. Praise God that Christianity isn’t a dead religion but that it’s all about a living relationship with a living God! And it was so great that over 1600 people across our four sites were rejoicing about that fact on Sunday, joined by others online too.

I am thoroughly looking forward to this next season in the life of Lee as we move into the summer term, and increasingly come back together from the Covid season.

Here’s what we’ve got coming up at the Lee site over the next month:

  • Sunday 25th April – Baptisms, 10.30-11.45am

  • Thursday 28th April – Rainbow Rhymes – a parent & toddler song time group relaunches at Lee, 10-11.15am.

  • Saturday 30th April – Lee Site walk, meet at the Lee building at 10am – walk through Blackheath and Greenwich Park finishing with packed lunches on the heath.

  • Thursday 5th May – Encounter Night, 7.45-9.30pm

  • Sunday 8th May – The Melvilles’ last Sunday, including doughnuts! 10.30-11.45am

  • Sunday 15th May – Diversity Sunday, 10.30-11.45am

Of these I wanted to make mention of:

Rainbow Rhymes

I am genuinely excited by the relaunch of Rainbow Rhymes on the Lee Site.  This is a wonderful song time for parents/carers and toddlers (aged 0-4), which involves plenty of fun, chat and cake and happens weekly during term time. I really missed it when we had to close because of Covid, so cannot wait for it to restart next week. If you would like to come, you can sign up sign up here or you can turn up on the day.

Lee Site Walk

Back when Lee was first launched in 2011, we used to go out for walks and do other socials together. Now that we are returning from the Covid season we thought it would be great to bring back the walks. So, on Saturday 30th April we are going to start simple and local by walking from the building to Greenwich via Blackheath and Greenwich Park. Whatever your walking ability, you are welcome.

Groups

Groups will restart at the beginning of May so now is the time to sign up. I’ve just been on our Groups page, and it is packed full of a huge variety of groups. Many are now meeting in person but there are still some online.

Groups are a great way to get to know other people and grow in your faith. If you are starting in a new group, please sign up. If you are continuing in the same group we will also need you to sign up.

Alpha

A great way to explore questions of life is through Alpha. Alpha provides people with the opportunity, whatever their background, and whatever they believe to ask the big questions of life.

If you would like to sign up or invite people along, the next course begins on Tuesday 3rd May, and you can find out more here.

And finally…

I’m looking forward to seeing you on Sunday as we baptise people and welcome Andrew Wilson to continue our Together series, looking at ‘Discipleship’. If you’ve missed any of our Easter messages or any messages from the series, you can catch up catch up here.

Have a very blessed weekend and see you soon.

Latest on Steve’s Blog – ‘More Lord!’

“As I drove to church in the sunshine last Sunday, I was looking forward to celebrating Easter and preaching the Gospel. I parked my car and walked purposefully to our Catford building, thinking through my message as I went. A woman came out of her house as I went past and commented good-humouredly that I looked ‘official’...” Read more
