Lottery 1-to-1 surgery Monday 21 March 2022 at Holloway Neighbourhood Group
These sessions have been going since 2017 and they help groups to fully understand the Lottery application process and submit better applications. The session on 21 March was the first Lottery 1-to-1 surgery that was held out in the community away from VAI offices. Four groups attended the session and found it useful. The funding officer from the National Lottery felt that most of the groups were ready to apply. The groups and people at HNG appreciated that the sessions were held locally. Surgeries are held every two months.

LinkedIn Training session held on 20 April 2022 at VAI Offices.
VAI delivered it’s first in-person LinkedIn training to Islington VCS organisations. With 10 attendees from a range of sectors including African heritage & culture, a local museum, human trafficking, family support and social care and gambling support. Participants learned the fundamentals of LinkedIn and defined its purpose, browsed its features and were shown how to build a personal and company profile. The training was well received, and attendees formed a small network of local community stakeholders follow us on LinkedIn

Volunteer Centre Islington:
Camden & Volunteer Spring Fair held on 7 April 2022 was an immense success with 10 organisations and around 60 people attending online. A big thank you to all the volunteers and organisations for attending the fair and for our friends at Volunteer Centre Camden who co-hosted the event. The Summer Fair will be on the 14 June, more details to follow.

The role will be working with Peabody residents in Islington to engage with residents in volunteering and community participation. This will involve, talking to local people, particularly residents of Peabody estates and encouraging them to sign up to the VAI Simply Connect database, making sure they note that they are part of this project. Making residents aware of local volunteering opportunities. For further details here.

Call out for VCS organisations to upload their volunteer opportunities to Simply Connect.
Now that restrictions have lifted, we are seeing more volunteers coming to our centre in Islington and looking for volunteer roles. This is a call out to all Islington VCS orgs to register or update their volunteering opportunities on Simply Connect here
