Analysis and insight on the policy issues affecting the travel industry

A Note From The CEO

Travel is front and center on world events, economic recovery and public policy.  As we enter a new phase of this pandemic and companies begin to bring employees back into the office, business travel resumes, and Americans are planning their summer vacations,  The Travel Technology Association is leading the call for the United States government to eliminate the 24-hour pre-departure testing requirement for vaccinated travelers. We can’t afford to wait any longer. The United States risks falling behind as the U.K. and other nations are opening their doors to travelers and their economies are realizing the benefits of international visitors.

As the crisis in Ukraine continues to unfold, I’m proud of how the world’s leading travel companies have taken immediate steps to support those affected. Travel Tech members provided shelter for people internally displaced, offered support in welcoming refugees and provided people a safe and trusted platform to donate funds. In a special report, Travel Tech highlighted how members are finding ways to support humanitarian efforts.

Back at home, Travel Tech is also supporting the bipartisan bill, The American Innovation and Choice Online Act, and joins other organizations in calling for Congress to pass the legislation. Self-preferencing by dominant search engines uniquely effects discoverability which harms travelers and travel businesses by making it harder for consumers to discover and comparison shop. The bill finally gives our competition enforcers better tools to address self-preferencing by dominant search engines.
