New in Stereo Pure DSD 256!

A bright musical expression of life

Trumpeter Krisztian Csapo, also known as “Kriz” brings us a new Stereo Pure DSD 256 album of Big Band Jazz music titled The Journey Home. It is exclusively available in Pure DSD at NativeDSD!

“This album represents three types of journeys in my life.
After playing with countless performers for years, I’m finally at a point where I was able to record an album that features the music I love with the musicians I love to play with. Thanks to music, I’ve been traveling frequently for more than 2 decades and I have visited more than 90 countries from Australia to the United States. It was during this period of time when I felt like I’m always on the road but it never felt like I had arrived. Although I still love traveling, now I spend most of the year in the rich musical community of Budapest, Hungary and it became my basis. It is great to have roots in the ground! …I feel like I’m exactly at the place where I’m supposed to be.”

-Krisztian Csapo

New DSD Release

A message that “speaks to our time.”

In their 7th DSD release at NativeDSD, members of the Gloriæ Dei Cantores chorale ensemble bring us the new album To Speak To Our Time.

Samuel Adler aims at “healing or repairing the world so that by our life’s work we would leave the world a better place when we depart from it.” He is well-known for his ecumenical vision and for building bridges through music. It is this mutual vision and passion that brought Samuel Adler and Gloriæ Dei Cantores together.

In preparation for this recording, members of Gloriæ Dei Cantores delved into the works of Samuel Adler, studying the texts, the compositional style, and the vision. Each choir member brought a distinct perspective, sparking lively discussions and unifying the vision they aimed to portray through the recording. Throughout this process conductor Richard K. Pugsley worked with the choir to bring their study, vision, and emotional connection to the texts and the music to life on the recording floor, bringing forth a message that “speaks to our time.”

Pugsley is an avid storyteller as is Adler, aiming to communicate the texts set to music as authentically as possible and in true harmony with the composer’s vision. To Speak to Our Time is a musical journey with all of the emotions that make us human. Travel with us and may Samuel Adler’s music illumine your path.

New DSD Release

The seasons magically portrayed in music

The newest DSD release from the popular Sound Liaison label is Sketches of the Seasons featuring Atzko Kohashi and Eddy Koopman.

Sketches of Seasons is a new take on the familiar 4 seasons theme by pianist Atzko Kohashi and percussionist Eddy Koopman. Improvisations driven from the moment and emotion. The direct ambient-like recording technique of the RAR label ensures that the listener is completely absorbed in the recordings. The musical realization of the seasons is magically portrayed. As if being in a beautiful dream. The palette ranges from the renewing, burgeoning of spring, the glorious of summer, the melancholy of autumn to the cozy embracing of winter.

"Thunder and lightning, stillness and élan, heavenly and earthly, an adventurous journey to the rhythm of the tides. These two open minds know how to enliven and musically shape the seasons in their own unique way".

About This Album

Internationally acclaimed Canadian Jazz songstress Holly Cole debuts at NativeDSD with the DSD Album “Holly”. One of the defining recordings of her long and celebrated career, this album includes 3 tracks with her original trio members David Piltch and Aaron Davis who collaborated with her on her very successful ‘Don’t Smoke in Bed’ and ‘Girl Talk’ and recordings made in New York with a whole new band produced by Russ Titelman. Her versatile and distinctive voice, along with her adventurous repertoire is a true delight.

“When I made this record I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew was that I was excited; excited to work with producer Russ Titelman, excited to work at Sear Sound Studio in New York, a wonderful studio I had recorded songs from my “Temptation” recording in and excited to record with a whole new band that Russ Titelman had assembled. It was an interesting experience for me to walk in the studio on day one of recording and meet most of these people for the first time.

“The sessions in New York were very intensive. That was a great way to work because we all got to know each other personally and musically very quickly. We did few takes and were able to record those precious moments of discovery. That is so important to me. Capturing the spark of musicians connecting with one another and discovering the essence of the song while recording is rare and fantastic.
To me this is the greatest joy in improvised music.”
- Holly Cole
