Parents & Guardians,

Our annual state testing (CMAS) in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will be underway this week! 3rd and 4th graders will be testing in Math and English Language Arts, and 5th grade will be testing in Math, English Language Arts, and Science. We are proud of our Cougars and we know they will try their very best.

We are so excited that the district art show is back and in-person! St. Vrain’s Unframed Student Art Show will be held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds from April 12-17. The event is free and open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. There will be a special open house celebration on April 14 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. A big thank you to Ms. Mocilac for her hard work to display as much Niwot Elementary art work as possible. We have amazing artists and I hope you all have an opportunity to stop by the fairgrounds.

Also coming soon is the Scholastic Book Fair. Please see below for the important details and volunteer opportunities. This event is always a favorite for our students and we are super happy to be able to offer it this year. Thank you, Ms. Kelly, for all of your hard work to make this happen for our students and families.

Have a great weekend and please let me know how I can support you.

Sincerely,

Nancy Pitz
Principal

There will be a special artists' night open house celebration on April 14 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. We look forward to celebrating our dedicated art students and teachers representing all of our schools across the district.

We will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair in two weeks!  This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.

We need parent volunteers to help set up and / or work during the book fair. If you are interested, please email Molly Walsh at fundraising@niwotptac.org.

Here are some important details regarding the Book Fair, which will take place from April 25th - 28th:

1) . The primary method of payment for students at the Book Fair is eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds and/or invite family and friends to contribute so your child can select their own books. Any unused funds can be spent at The Scholastic Store Online or to fund a future eWallet. Get started with eWallet here

2). If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school! Learn more about online shopping here

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Ms. Kelly

We have the Lost and Found items out in front of the school. Please take a moment to stop by the school to claim any of your missing items.
The character trait for April is Self Discipline. Thank you for discussing this important trait with your child at home.

Hey, innovators! We’re looking for students who are risk-takers, thinkers,  curious, persistent, creative, and interdependent. Join us at Innovation Academy for a week of design thinking, inquiry-based learning, and lots and lots of prototyping, where you’ll have tons of fun as we find solutions to the world’s most pressing issues! (Well… from the perspective of an elementary-aged student!) We’ll use the human centered process called Design Thinking to uncover needs, brainstorm ideas, and bring some of those ideas to life!  Check out this link for more information or to register! Registration opened March 14, and space is limited!

Important Note: This is a date change from last weeks newsletter!

There will be a 3v3 charity basketball tournament and skills clinic at Niwot High School on April 29th and 30th. April 30th will be for 6-8 graders, and April 29th the event will be for 3-5 graders. The times for both days will be 9AM-2PM, check-in will start at 8:30 AM.

Prior to the tournament, there will be an hour and a half skills session prior to the games. Games will begin at 10:45AM. Each team is guaranteed 3 games where they will face opponents of the same grade. The teams will consist of 3-5 players where all of the players must be in the same grade. Anyone is welcome to join regardless of gender! Entrance fee is $70 per team (this is a flat fee regardless if the team is 3,4, or 5 players). This tournament is part of a Niwot HS student CAS project and all proceeds from the tournament will be donated to a local charity. Anyone who has signed up previously must sign up once again to ensure accuracy of registration and availability. There is a limited number of teams per grade. 8 teams are able to sign up within each grade. To sign up, please use one of the corresponding links that will take you to a google form listed below.
