COFFS FOOTBALL 6S TO START
ON THE SYNTHETICS IN MAY

Plans have been unveiled today for a major new football competition that will make the game a year-round sport on the Coffs Coast.

North Coast Football (NCF) has released details of Coffs Football 6s - a six-a-side competition on the synthetics at the new Coffs Football Centre, within Coffs Coast Sport and Leisure Park.

Registrations are now open, and the competition starts the week commencing 9 May 2022. The first competition will run for 18 weeks.

Coffs Football 6s will offer several competitions for men, women and mixed teams four nights a week and six youth age groups on Friday afternoons. Also coming is walking football for older players or those with reduced mobility.

The new six-a-side competition differs from club football in that groups of individuals enter teams rather than clubs. Matches involve two - 20-minute halves.

For men and women, there are three levels of competition – for high-level players and sports people, for regular players and active people, and for social players. There's one level of competition in mixed, older and walking football. The cost per player for an 18-week competition is $180.

Coffs Football 6s is run by North Coast Football, the official governing body locally of football, to build and grow all forms of the game on the north coast. There will be three competitions annually over 48 weeks in the years ahead.

Comments by Andrew Woodward. General Manager, North Coast Football.

The new $12 million Coffs Football Centre is spectacular and were going to get maximum value from it all year round.

We have designed the sixes program to offer more football to existing players, to cater for those that can't play at weekends, to those who haven't played for a while and for those who are new to the game.

People will love playing on the new synthetic pitches in all weather conditions. Since January, we've had plenty of 11-a-side football, and players rave about them.

Sixes football is a great way to have fun with friends and get a bit of fitness.

We want as many people as possible to experience football, so we're offering competitions for all levels, capabilities, ages and fitness levels. Whether you have played for years or never pulled on a boot before, we have something for you.

Sixes football is played over two twenty-minute halves on a smaller pitch with smaller goals. All you need to do is round up some mates, register a team and pay your money and you are good to go.

Coffs Football Sixes is a lot more informal than traditional football. There are still referees and rules, but you register as a group of mates rather than through a club or as a team representing a club.

Coffs Football 6s is the start of something big. In the years ahead, we'll be offering more competitions for more people on more days of the week.
