Help Celebrate Our Teachers May 2nd-6th!

We are so blessed to have teachers who work hard, demonstrate excellence, and love the Lord! It is our honor to recognize the role they play in the lives of our kids and families. PAC has a specific plan for celebrating our teachers each day of the week!

MONDAY:
Door Signs
Sign up to decorate your teacher's door. You can decorate butcher paper or a poster board over the weekend and bring it early on Monday to put on your teacher's door. Scroll to find your teacher, and please note that some teachers share a door.

TUESDAY:
Cookie Day
Tuesday will be Cookie Day graciously sponsored by Scoopwell's Dough Bar, a PVCP family-owned business in our community. Thank you to the Scheer Family for their generosity!

Chalk will be provided as we spend 30 minutes before school decorating the walkways. Please supervise students to ensure that messages are appropriate and related to thanking our teachers.

THURSDAY:
Catered Teacher Lunch
On Thursday, we will cater lunch for all of the teachers. If you would like to make a cash contribution towards this, you can bring it to the office Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday in an envelope labeled "PAC Teachers' Lunch." A $20 sponsorship counts as one volunteer hour! A few volunteers are also needed for lunch setup on Thursday.

FRIDAY:
Coffee + Thank You Cards
On Friday, PAC will have two tables set up for making cards for your teacher. One table will be near the gym and one near the preschool playground. Come early enough for your child to make a card and take it to class! Volunteers are needed to facilitate each of the tables from 7:30-8:15 a.m. Mama's Cold Brew is sponsoring iced coffees for all of the teachers! Thank you to the Rzepecki family!

Support for the Van Epps Family

As many of you know, the Van Epps family has faced a recent health challenge with their baby, Nolan, who had surgery to remove a tumor and has begun chemotherapy. Many families have graciously extended support to the family in addition to maintaining them in your prayers. The best way to stay informed of Nolan's progress and needs of the Van Epps family is to follow their journey at CaringBridge. For those who are able, financial support to assist with meals and any other needs at this time can be sent directly to Eric through Venmo at @Eric-VanEpps-1 (the last four digits of the associated phone are 9622).

TerraNova Testing: 1st through 11th Grade

TerraNova Testing for 1st through 11th grade, will take place Monday through Thursday, April 25-28. Students will test from the start of school until approximately 11 a.m. (with scheduled breaks). Please make sure students are on time to school, and please do not schedule any off-campus appointments for your students during testing hours. In the afternoon, students will be back in their classrooms for normal class time on a modified schedule. Additionally:
-       Ensure students go to bed at a reasonable hour ahead of testing.
-       Make sure students eat a good, protein-rich breakfast in the morning.
-       Encourage your students to do their best on the testing, but not to stress about it.
-       Send a snack with your students to eat during scheduled breaks.
-       Middle school electives will be the elective for that day of the week. (Monday electives on Monday, Tuesday electives on Tuesday, etc.). There will be no band/music that week.
-       Seniors should plan to be on campus in time for their class that begins at 12:05.
-       There is no testing on Friday, April 29, but that day will be a half day for teacher-in-service. There will be no lunches or EDC, so please plan accordingly.

Monday: 1, 2, 3, 5
Tuesday: 6. 7, 8, 1
Wednesday: 2, 3, 5, 6
Thursday: 7, 8, 2, 3

Thank you,  Mrs. Tierney!

PVCP mom Mrs. Tierney did an incredible job planning and organizing this year's upper school prom! We want to send a special thanks to her and her incredible team of volunteers who made this event a success! The feedback has been incredible, and we are grateful for your care and concern for our students.

Senior Thesis Presentations and Graduation

The graduation ceremony for the class of 2022 is just around the corner on May 12, at 7 p.m., at Scottsdale Bible Church Cactus Campus. In the meantime, the seniors are busy putting the finishing touches on their capstone projects and preparing for their defenses. After a year of researching a topic of their choice, in early May, all seniors will present and defend their theses before a faculty panel. Senior parents are encouraged to attend the panel presentations, so be sure to check with your students on their allotted time.

2022-2023 Tuition and Fees

Dear PVCP Families,

Every spring, PVCP’s Board of Directors meets to set tuition policy for the subsequent school year. These discussions are grounded in substantial prayer, with great consideration given to the impact on PVCP families. Two of our institutional values are keeping tuition as low as possible for our families, while at the same time caring for our teachers through a competitive compensation and benefits package. In fact, 100% of tuition increases go directly to cover teacher and staff benefits, most specifically the soaring cost of healthcare coverage. Consequently, you will find a modest increase for the 2022-2023 tuition and fees schedule.

As the Board unveiled at the Town Hall meeting in October, part of PVCP's strategic growth plan includes the launching of the self-sustaining Early Education Center, providing care for those six weeks old and up. Not only is there a significant demand for a Christian Early Education Center in our community, but we feel blessed to have been able to fund this building through strong stewardship planning.

Notably, as enrollment continues to grow with two sections already slated in several grades next year, once opened, the Early Education Center will provide additional classroom space in the lower school. Moreover, enrollment in the Early Education Center will function as a feeder for the lower school with a positive budgetary impact positioning the school for additional future planning.

We thank you for your continued prayers of support for PVCP as we enter an exciting new season!

Sincerely,

PVCP Board of Directors

Continued Growth and Teacher Hiring

As tour requests and applications for next year continue to come in, we want to be in the best position possible with a pipeline of quality applicants to fill additional sections of grades as numbers warrant. Do you know someone with a background in education who values pouring into the next generation and training them in biblical truth? Then encourage them to join PVCP's community of spiritual nurturing and academic excellence by sending their résumé to HR@pvcp.org.

Save On Your Tuition!

T.R.I.P. is back! Family referrals are one of the primary ways new families learn about PVCP, and we want to reward you for your efforts in spreading the word about our incredible community! Through T.R.I.P., your family will receive a $1,000 tuition credit for each student you recruit. There is no limitation to the number of students you can recruit, so in theory, you can cover all your tuition through the recruitment of new students!

Half of the credit will be applied to student accounts in December and the other half in May. Recruited students must remain for the duration of the school year to receive full credit. Credits will be prorated for students who leave before the completion of an academic year. Credit is good for one year only and does not carry over to subsequent years the recruited family is enrolled.

Mrs. Cornelius is available and ready to conduct tours for your contacts, so have them sign up today!

Lunch Reminder: Deadline

Please remember, lunch orders must be submitted by the 15th of the month prior to the month for which you are ordering lunches. Any submissions after the 15th will not be accepted. Full instructions on ordering lunch may be found here.

Make Your STO Contributions by April 15!

Did you know that there is still time to make sure your 2021 state income taxes go to a cause that you believe in? By making a donation to a qualified "School Tuition Organization" (STO), like APSTO, you can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit when filing your 2021 state tax return, all while making a Christian education available to more people! That means if you owe the State of Arizona $1,000 in income taxes, and you make a $1,000 donation to an STO, you now owe the state nothing!

When making a donation to an STO, be sure to designate Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory or a PVCP student other than your own as the intended recipient. When designating PVCP, this gives us the ability to support families within our community who might need additional help in covering their tuition.

Because the contribution deadline is April 15, you can actually determine what you owe to the State of Arizona and then make a donation to offset it before filing your taxes!

A list of STO's with which PVCP partners may be found here.

Thursday Food & Fellowship: 8th-12th Grade

We're excited to welcome Scottsdale Bible Church Cactus Campus Youth Pastor Ethan Clark to campus on Thursdays at lunch for food and fellowship! The group will meet in room 301 from 11 to 11:25 a.m. Food and Fellowship is a lunch club built upon the three pillars of faith, truth, and community. We discuss faith through asking questions in a safe environment, seek truth through earnestly looking for answers, and engage in community through pizza and fellowship!

International Host Families Needed

Please consider opening your homes and hearts to an international student attending PVCP for the 22-23 school year! When you host a student, you give an incredible gift. You give an international student the chance to fulfill his or her dreams of experiencing the American way of life. You give your family the opportunity to learn and appreciate different cultures. You give your community an eager new member with fresh eyes and fresh perspectives. Most of all, you give one another the warmth of friendship and family bonds that last a lifetime. We are in need of several families to host students from various European and Asian countries. Currently, we are looking for homes for two girls:
  • Marta from Spain will be in 10th grade. She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and is excited to be involved with sports.
  • Gadea is from Spain and will be in 10th grade. She comes from a large, close-knit family and is hoping to be in a home where she can expand her family even further. She loves animals, listening to music, and volleyball.
If you feel called to make a difference in the lives of one of our students, please contact Cristi Youngkin at 602-615-0776 or cristi.educatius@gmail.com, or you can contact Mrs. Cornelius for more information.

Join other PVCP Students in the BSA!

PVCP parent Mrs. Sucher invites all 5th through 7th grade students to visit her son's troop meeting to learn more about the Boy Scouts of America! This is a great opportunity to learn valuable lifeskill and experience adventure while forming lifelong friendships. Please reach out to Mrs. Sucher at the e-mail address below with any questions you might have.

Volunteer Hours

One of the great ways we foster community while supporting our incredible school is through family volunteer hours. Every PVCP family is asked to volunteer 20 hours of their time over the course of the school year. These hours should be logged in Praxi (directions below) as they occur to be approved by administration. Any unmet hours will be charged to the AR account at the end of the year at the amount of $15 per missed hour. Parents can get involved through volunteering at your grade level assigned events (sign up below), helping in the classroom, assisting with sporting events and clubs, attending PAC events or meetings, and more!
