Fantastic Four at Kieran Maxwell Open

Outdoor season kicks off in style!

The first outdoor T&F fixture of the summer saw 4 Team Blyth athletes lace up their spikes and take to the track. Making her debut for the club was Darcey Hirst, and she produced a fantastic performance in the U15 age group, recording a time of 5:55.70 in the Mile race. Niamh Adams was next up, and she took over 10 seconds off her PB with a time of 5:53.03, a wonderful run to win her heat. Lauren Creaby was up next - and the club record holder started her track season in good form, with a courageous 5:30.01, which was 2nd fastest time of the day in age group. Finally, it was Caitlin Creaby's time to shine - and she did so magnificently in the 200m. A brand new PB of 30.65s, which earns Caitlin her first AAA badge was well deserved.

Parkrun - Frankie PB's again

Frankie Foster maintained his fantastic form at the Whitley Bay Junior Parkrun with another new PB, recording 7:29 for 2nd place. Daniel Hall recorded his 2nd fastest run ever, with 23:52 at the Blyth Links Parkrun. Brilliant work from Both boys!

MASSIVE PLEA FOR HELP FROM OUR PARENTS & FAMILY MEMBERS
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
