Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

As part of their brief to address the issues of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion the Lancashire Cricket Federation has arranged a series of focus groups during April. The GMCL's focus group meeting has been arranged for Wednesday 20th April. Sessions are targeted to be 1 hour 30 minutes with a hard cut off of 2 hours aimed to start at 6.30pm. The LCF have arranged for Diverse Matters to facilitate the meetings, which will be via zoom.

As such we are looking 10 to 12 people to represent the GMCL at the meeting. Participants should represent the demographic of the wider cricket community and where possible it would be useful to engage with somebody who is not engaged in Cricket at all to try to get an understanding as to why.

If you are interested in getting involved or know someone you think would be useful group member please contact via email at equity@gtrmcrcricket.co.uk

Player & Officials Registration
GMCL runs a two level system
Firstly, all Professionals, Overseas and players new to GMCL (transferred to a GMCL club, returning to the game after absence or new to club cricket) must be registered by the club with the league on the league's registration form and follow the instructions HERE

All players new and old including juniors and those who have completed the GMCL form above and club officials who are not players
must register on cricHQ in order to pay their annual fee (seniors only) and verify their e-mail address.

The process for the registration is detailed HERE   There is guidance on registering for cricHQ HERE
Links for the new junior clubs are being added this week.

Club Liaison Officers (CLOs)
As part of the Board’s drive to improve the way it operates, each team competing in the GMCL now has an allocated Club Liaison Officer and its important that if you have questions or quieries regarding your team playing in the GMCL these are channelled through your CLO
The CLOs will be your team’s first and only point of contact for any matters that you need a response, and the CLO will deal with your request or where this isn’t possible, they will pass your question onto the correct person, which ensures consistency across the league.
The CLOs will also communicate with your teams via email informing them of matters that require action, such as ball orders, team entries before the season and any live matters arising during the season.
The CLOs will liaise with the teams from their allocated divisions thereby giving all clubs a voice and respond to issues raised by the clubs. The CLO’s will be integral to the Cricket Management Committee and take an active role in the management of the league.
Noted below are the contact details for their teams’ CLOs and they will have your contact details when supplied, solely for this purpose. (GDPR) What is important is that communication from the team/club should only be via the Club Chair, Secretary or Team Captain to the respective CLO.

JUNIORS SECTION
GMCL Junior Competitions 2022

please contact your opponents and let the league know the arranged date. We are working on a club/team contact list for 2022 this will be with you before the season.

U9s will continue to work 4 weeks in advance to allow for new teams be added.

Please remember to get your players (Under 11 and up) registered on CricHQ, its exactly the same as adults, but is free for juniors.

Don’t forget the deadlines for League team nominations as per below.

2022 League Teams

Here is the link for nominations for the 2022 league teams. Please read the criteria carefully below before making your nominations The link is https://forms.gle/SVfdx1ZEQdt3qEvR6

U11 assessments are being held at Total cricket on 12 & 13th April 6-8pm. Please fill in the form and confirm your preferred date to David Bardsley on dvdbards@aol.com by 10th April.

U13s-U18s nominees will be contacted re assessment dates, but please ensure forms are completed by 17th April.

Important – criteria

Please note that the fixtures for the Inter League are now essentially Lancashire assessment games, and we ask clubs to consider this when nominating.  Please bear in mind when nominating we are looking for players who will deal with the performance required.

This season we will have 2 x U11, 3 x U13 EAST, WEST, CENTRAL,  2 x U15 and an U18s

We have run some sessions for players who were in the GMCL U11s last season along with the U12s who are now 13 to assess their suitability to play in the games.

We need to stress that Lancashire have changed their philosophy this season with a U13 final being the target. We will be looking at a more performance-based approach rather than a development focus so please bear that in mind when nominating.

OTHER ITEMS

ECB’s Disability Champion Clubs grant scheme

The ECB’s Disability Champion Clubs grant scheme, a fantastic initiative, which has now launched for 2022, its second year.

DCC provides your mainstream club with resources, equipment and guidance towards accommodating individuals with varying needs and abilities. This enables you to welcome and support people with disabilities in a number of capacities, whether it be playing, officiating, volunteering, or simply following your club. The aim is to provide disabled people with regular opportunities to engage in cricket.

In its first year, a club with a successful application will receive a free kit bag from the ECB to support delivery, and can apply for up to £500 of seed funding to assist with coaching, purchasing specialist equipment or promotion. 100 clubs signed up for this opportunity in 2021, and this year’s application deadline is Friday, May 6th

The web page for the initiative is accessible via the following link as well: https://www.ecb.co.uk/play/open-age/disability-cricket/championclubs

Finally, here is a video which exhibits the impact of a DCC in 2021: https://twitter.com/LancsCricketFDN/status/1497162787923103745?s=20&t=rdzoR_yYNQqN5OpEwHsdSw

Feel free to respond to me with any inquiries, and if you’d like any guidance on the application system please contact either disabilitycricket@ecb.co.uk or grantmanagement@ecb.co.uk

Managing the risk of concussion in recreational cricket

The advice HERE replaces all previous ECB ACO guidance and is intended to sit alongside any concussion training set for umpires (whether online or in person).

The Lancashire Way

We will be following the Lancashire Way which focuses on player development along the pathway. Some key points to note are:

The Lancashire Way is built on the core values of Lancashire Cricket

•       Driven

•       Unified

•       Grounded

•       Welcoming

How Lancashire teams play their cricket will be the strongest demonstration of The Lancashire Way.

We will commit to the following team philosophies:

•       Have fun, but play to succeed

•       Team first

•       Always look to put pressure on the opposition

•       Collaborate and communicate with each other

•       Share knowledge

•       Don’t be afraid to take the lead

•       Be ‘in the game’

•       Enjoy each other’s success

•       Respect your opponent and officials – refuse to engage in negative chat

Please remember these are assessment sessions not trails, as we pointed out at the end of the session we are looking for players who have technical, tactical, physical and crucially mentally abilities to enable them to deal with challenges.

Of course, we are aware they are 13 and developing, however we want to highlight that we need them to start to make decisions for themselves with support.

I know as parents we want the best for our children, we do though need to let them learn.

Best wishes

GMCL Directors
