Helping Pixel Walk Again

Pixel arrived at the local municipal shelter (San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter) badly injured. She needed more care than SMRAS could provide. We have the heart, we have the supporters, and we have the people with the right skills to give Pixel the very best chance at a good life.

But Pixel couldn’t wait.  She was likely hit by a car last week or the week before.  If she was going to walk again, her legs needed to be repaired as soon as possible. The surgery was done as soon as the hardware was available. Her right leg now has two pins above the knee and the left leg has a plate and about 10 screws. Recovery will be long but we are eager to see her walk again, pain-free.

The estimate for the cost of this surgery was $3K.  Please help cover these unexpected costs. Thank you so much for caring about the kitties in need.

Donations can be made directly toward her bill at Dripping Springs Animal Hospital or through our Facebook fundraiser or our webpage

Adoptables

Bowser and Luigi were rescued together and have become a very sweet, bonded pair.
Luigi is a handsome gray and white tabby with fur as soft as silk. He is gentle and peaceful.  Despite his name, Bowser is a cute and small fellow that prefers to keep the peace in life!  These two peas in a pod have very similar, well mannered purrrrsonalities and will need to go to their forever home together.

These two lean on each for support and are never far from each other.  When they aren’t walking around exploring, they are curled up together napping on the softest blankets they can find.  They even share treats, so cute! Check out the video below:
Bowser and Luigi are a bonded pair of six-month-old kittens who love to share everything, including treats! Yum!
You can meet these beautiful boys in the adoption center at Tomlinson’s in Belterra Village during business hours.

Foster Plea

Moxie came to Thundering Paws and is now being cared for by a medical fosterer where she will be able to get the constant care she needs to help her get healthy.
We are here to help!

Here at Thundering Paws, I am not only a medical foster, I am the Foster Advocate. This means I help our neediest intakes and while I take care of them, I help our fosters take care of their foster kitties.

As a medical fosterer, I take on complex and time-consuming kitties, like Moxie.  Moxie has been through a horrible ordeal during which she lost over half of her bodyweight and developed a potentially-fatal condition caused hepatic lipidosis.  She, fortunately, made her way to Thundering Paws and, after a brief hospitalization, came home with me.  She is the most loving of cats, who purrs and purrs through her tube feedings and any other attention she gets.  She'll get multiple tube feedings a day through a surgically-placed feeding tube until she is able to eat a normal amount of calories on her own.  This will likely take a couple of months during which time other fosters will cover for me as needed.  Together our team of medical fosters will see her through this.

As Foster Advocate I work with everyone at Thundering Paws to make sure that each fosterer gets the kind of foster they want to work with and all the help they need for a successful fostering experience.  Whether you have never fostered before or have fostered hundreds of kitties, we can work with you in a way that works for you. We are currently building a roster of fosters for 2022 so there are people we can call on when an urgent call comes in about bottle babies or orphaned kittens or a pregnant mama or an adult in need.  We need people who can cover for fosters while they travel, people we can move weaned kittens to so that a bottle feeder can take on more bottle babies, and countless other scenarios.  We never give you more than you are ready to take on.  We are here to support you from intake to adoption.  We strive to meet the unique circumstances of every kitty and every person caring for our kitties. Celebrating 21 Years

Join us at Beerburg on June 4th!

We are excited to honor the amazing work of Thundering Paws founder, Anne Zabolio, and all of the wonderful employees and volunteers who have positively changed the lives of countless cats over the last 21 years.  As the sanctuary celebrates this momentous birthday and milestone this summer, we are kicking things off with a celebration and fundraiser at Beerburg in Dripping Springs on Saturday, June 4th from 1pm-4pm.

This special event will feature live music, a silent auction, like-minded cat advocates, and great beer and food!  We are still playing things safe, so the day’s festivities will be held outdoors on Beerburg’s wide-open grounds set against the lush backdrop of the Hill Country.  You’ll also have an opportunity to meet some of the Thundering Paws cats who enjoy a lively social scene and are available for adoption!

Stay tuned for updates on our musical guests and silent auction items!  We hope to see you for this remarkable day in support of the cats of Thundering Paws, and all who have dedicated themselves to making their lives better with quality care, lots of love, and safe homes!

Kitten Season = Supplies Needed

Pregnant mamas and kittens are arriving. Mamas and kittens will be with us until the kittens are at least 14 weeks old, many for much longer than that. That's a lot of KMR, bedding, food, litter, toys, scratchers, etc. when you consider how many kitties we help each year! We sure would appreciate gifts from our Amazon Registries or Chewy Wish List.
