FLASH
Minimum Credit Bidders
Do you have the 1) Set Condition Minimum Credit request in your bid AND 2) The Clear Schedule and Start Next Bid Group in your bid groups?
If so, read the following information carefully.
As witnessed for the June 2021 Awards, the company limited the Minimum Credit Bidders.
Please know that the company limited
the Minimum Credit Bidders
for the April awards for half of the runs
The PBS Committee was given runs for review, some of which did not have the Min Credit Bidders limited and others that did. Of course after reviewing the runs we could not choose the run with the Min Credit Bidders limited because Numerous SDs and FAs would have ended up on Reserve....YES, Reserve and/or many of their bid groups being denied.
It is very important to note that we will not always be given a choice. Prior notice is not given when Minimum Credit Limit is implemented by the Company. If the Company chooses to limit the Minimum Credit Bidders, only the most senior crew members (top 15% as per the CA) of block holders using this feature, will not be impacted by this limit. Everyone junior to that will be affected as PBS will not honour the Minimum Credit request. It is therefore, crucial to bid accordingly.

LIR turn Pairings
e-claim submission may be required for LIR turn pairings for the missing expenses, due to the fact that it is a bracelet layover station.
|
|
|
Multiple Pairing Numbers and Pairing Number Depart On should not be used together on the same line
The following line will not produce any pairings because the pairings cannot be BOTH V7089 and 7092:
If you were to Analyze this line, no pairings would match this line.

RBP Reserve
RBP Reserve blocks are manually prepared by your Local 4094 PBS committee so it is important that you communicate your exact preferences within your bid lines.
Note that on Reserve an RBP will have 11 working days
RBP Reserve blocks will have a
Minimum Credit of 2:25 per work day = 26:35
PBS Reserve Manual Block Building Checklist
- Coverage dates are assigned in the block first.
- Overlapping is checked 1/7.
- Overlapping is checked 4/14.
- Training dates are pre-awarded prior to working days. Training cannot be within FA’s 10 day off.
- Must have a stretch of 10 days off in a row (may include vacation days).
- Minimum 2 days off (except the first or last day of the block month and the day before or following vacation, where you can have 1 day off).
- Minimum 3 days on (except at the beginning or end of the block month, where you can have 1 or 2 days on).
- If you are coming into the new block month with vacation, as always you may have a single day off immediately following.
- GDOs may be requested:
- as few as 2 minimum, up to 11 maximum, but cannot exceed more than 3 sets of days off –
* if none requested, PBS will default to 6
- 11 Working days will be assigned.
|
|
|
*PBS Important Points to Know and Remember *
- Your Current bid is only available for 6 days but you may bid in your Default bid anytime throughout the month.
- PBS will be unavailable during the Awards process for approximately 5 days
- When you Submit you are submitting all three of your PBS bids, your Current, your Default and your Training bid
- When you Delete All you are only deleting the page that you are viewing at the time
- You may SUBMIT your bid as many times as you like prior to bid close, it is recommended that you submit after entering every couple of bid lines
- Saving is NOT the same as Submitting, only SUBMITTED bids will be used by PBS for your award. SAVE is for you to use if you do not have access to wifi and will be submitting your bid at a later date/time. SAVE will only save your bid to the device that you are working on at the time.
- Numbered bid lines have been added by you and may be moved and deleted. Lines without numbers are embedded by Navblue (the software provider) and cannot be deleted.
- Blocking Window - Our blocking window is always 9 hours, either 71 - 80 hours (80 hours most months) or 76 - 85 hours (85 hour month, which the company has the right to 4 months per year). You will not be awarded a Pairings Block unless PBS can find enough credit for a legal Pairings block
- On Reserve you will NEVER be able to work more than 10 consecutive days
- On Reserve when/if you work 10 days in a row you MUST have 4 days off before and after the 10 days, in order to honour the 4 in 14 blocking rule, even when overlapping from one month into the new month
- On Reserve you may only waive ONE of the two blocking rules (1 in 7 OR 4 in 14)
- Overlapping Activity - Your previous month is ALWAYS taken into consideration when blocking the new month so your blocking rules (1 in 7 and 4 in 14) MUST be honoured, unless waived, from one month into the next
- Layover Stations that do not exist for YVR - do not add any designators that do not exist for YVR as this will have PBS 'wasting time' on your award. Juniors that are being used for Coverage need all the time that is possible for their award and it is possible for PBS to run out of time for your award.
Reserve Handbooks are updated regularly so make sure you carry the most recent version with you
For the English Reserve Handbook - Updated March 2022
For the French Reserve Handbook - Updated March 2022

Coverage
To view our bulletin with the full explanation of Coverage
There are three types of coverage award:
-
Tripstack: where you are required for a specific date. PBS searched for bid lines that allow it to “satisfy” or assign pairings on the date. PBS will attempt to honour Avoid and/or Prefer Off bid lines where possible, however they may be ignored when no options exist.
-
Language Tripstack: similar to the Tripstack where, a specific language requirement is needed on a specific date.
-
Language Credit: where the date is not crucial, only that you operate as many pairings required for your language. PBS will read all of your bid lines however, the only pairings assigned in this process are those requiring the language.
Tripstack is the most common type of coverage and usually occurs when most bidders prefer to have time off such as weekends and or civic/religious holidays.
