How was "Jogging"?

So many highlights to share, but one sticks out right now: the performance by Hanane Hajj Ali of "Jogging", her one-woman play, depicting various female figures as she asks "who is Medea in the city of Beirut today?". Heart-felt, almost shocking, honest and revealing, audiences witnessed something they wouldn't have believed, sat in awe and applauded for its courage.

Discussions with students at the International Institute for Social Studies as well as audiences at Zaal 3 led not only to a greater understanding of the events happening in Lebanon, but also to compassion and shared emotion. (Photo by Piero Chiussi)

"There is something rotten
in the state of Denmark"

Hamlet, by Shakespeare

This quote was used by Hanane Hajj Ali in Jogging to mirror how she sees
the political state of Lebanon

 Connect for opportunities

Recently Cultuurschakel Den Haag invited education coordinators from prominent and local cultural institutions to explore ways of working together. STET Education was thrilled to participate. An interactive session at Escher Museum and a presentation at Het Nationale Theater provided fertile grounds for cultivating relationships among institutions. New ways of looking at things + Museum + STET + Your School + English Actor = New Opportunities.

Contribution given

A donation of €300 was handed over to Arlette Hanson (below left) director of Komt Het Zien!, by STET Education, in March. A percentage of the income from schools' bookings from September to December 2021 was reserved for their cause: providing audio description for blind people at shows. You helped make it happen. Thank you!

Get your diaries ready.

Our next newsletter will tell you all about our plans for Illyria's Open Air workshop - the UK's oldest outdoor touring company is back in the Netherlands! - on Friday 9 September. This is when several schools join the workshops held by Shakespeare actors from the show Midsummer Night's Dream. Beautiful setting on the grounds of Raadhuis de Paauw, Wassenaar.

We encourage schools to book and plan this as soon as you get the information, as it takes place first thing in the new school year.

See you soon!
