Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:
- Looking for a summer job / internship (or even a longer term position; most of these employers have year-long positions)? PVCC has 30 employers recruiting at PVCC THIS Thursday, April 14, 11am-1pm in the Bolick Student Center in the Main Campus Building. This event is open to all community members so please share with friends/family who might be looking for a job! Here's a great article about preparing for and navigating job fairs. Bring lots of resumes! This event is informal so you don't need to dress professionally BUT it's still a good idea to not wear jeans/t-shirts or sandals if you want to make a good impression. Entry-level / flexible / frequent hiring employers include almost all of them! But here are the ones we hear from the most - Boys & Girls Club of Central Virginia, Chiles Family Orchard, Commonwise Home Care, Farmington Country Club, Food and Beverage Restaurant Management, Keswick Hall, Kings Dominion, Lowe's of Charlottesville, Public Lands, Raising Cane's, RoseWood Village, Skyline Tent Co., Student Services Moving & Storage Co. , Thomas Jefferson Foundation / Monticello, UVA Talent Flex Services, and Wintergreen Resort.
- PVCC has two employers recruiting at PVCC on Tuesday, April 12 between 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: U.S. Navy and U.S. National Guard. Stop by to learn about the many benefits they offer to students while in *and* after going to school.
- UVA's Apprenticeship Program is hosting an in-person Career Fair on Tuesday, April 12 (9:30-11:30am, UVA Alumni Hall, 211 Emmet St.) to showcase their program and other local employers about career opportunities in the skilled trades. Apply to UVA's program by April 29.
- Virginia Career Works (VCW) hosts a weekly virtual job search prep workshop on Tuesdays, at 2pm. This week's topic on April 12 is Workforce Skills. Registration required. Their Thursday, April 14, 1-3pm, Employers of the Week, are Raising Cane's and Public Lands. Registration required.
- CareerEco is hosting a Virtual Career Fair for People with Disabilities on Wednesday, April 13, 9am-6pm. There are 66 nationwide employers (some have a local presence). Registration required.
- Mark your calendar for Greene Co. Public Schools Job Fair & Career Expo on Monday, April 18, 3:15-5:30 pm. There will be 40+ employers participating from multiple industries! This event is open to all in the community (up until 3:15, the event is only open to William Monroe High School students).
- Transportation Security Administration is hosting an application assistance / hiring event at Northside Library on Friday, April 15, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. There is a $1000 Sign-on Bonus for Full and Part time Security Officers for the Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport starting at $18.59 per hour. RSVP requested.
- Attention aspiring Chefs. If you're a Charlottesville resident, take advantage of Charlottesville City's Culinary Boot Camp. Apply by April 20.
- Attention aspiring Entrepreneurs. If you're a Charlottesville or Albemarle Co. resident, take advantage of Charlottesville City's GO Start-up program that will run April 26-30. Apply ASAP since there are only a few spots available.
- Attention aspiring (or current!) Women in Technology. Charlottesville Women in Technology is hosting a Membership Launch Party on Wednesday, April 20, 5:30 p.m. at WillowTree. Registration requested. Meet like-minded women to network with and become involved to add to your resume. If you can't attend the Launch Party but want to become a member (it's FREE!), click here.
- Attention aspiring (or current) Conservationists. The 2022 Virginia Land Conservation and Greenways Conference being held in Richmond, April 27-29 is FREE for students!

- Healthcare students should consider any job that involves working with people (see above) but these employers would be specific to you at Thursday's Job Fair - Commonwise Home Care, RoseWood Village¸ UVA Talent Flex Services, UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center is on the waitlist if space opens up with their interest in hiring Access Associates as well as Loving Arms Care Inc. and Visiting Angels.
- The City of Charlottesville seeks part-time Day Camp Counselors paying $15/hour.
- Public Lands, owned by Dicks Sporting Goods is hiring Sales Associates for their new location in Charlottesville. Pay starts at $12.50/hour ($15.50+/hour for Sales Leaders). Talk with them at Thursday's Summer Jobs Fair or VCW's Employers of the Week (online, 1-3pm).
- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is recruiting new TSA agents. Consider attending their upcoming recruiting event on April 15th at the Northside Library on Rio Road between 11:30 and 1:30pm. Pay starts at $18.59 and they have part-time and full-time positions available (full federal benefits given to part-time employees).
- The Arc of the Piedmont has both part-time and full-time openings for Direct Service Professionals in multiple locations starting at $15/hour. Check it out on CCN - a job listing resource open to all to use.

Talk with them at PVCC's Summer Jobs & Internships Fair on Thursday, 4/14, 11am-1pm and/or apply online. Mention the UVAFinance internship when contacted by the recruiter.
- CodeVA seeks a contract photographer. This group is based in Richmond and would involve some driving.
- The Artful Lodger is hiring a Sales & Design Associate that pays $2-21/hour
- Ciox is hiring a Lead Medical Records Specialist to process release of information specifically medical record requests in a timely and efficient manner.

- UVA Temps is hiring individuals for Temporary IT/Technical positions. A representative will be at the Summer Jobs & Internship Fair on Thursday, 4/14. Not only do they have part-time or full-time IT Specialists positions that pay $22/hour, they also have a part-time Mechanical Technician opening to work 30 hours/week paying $20/hour in the High Energy Physics Lab.
