Extra Credit with Professor Mark Sivak! 📝

Here I share something design or tech related from the week for those looking for just a little extra credit.

This week I have the most technical Extra Credit yet, as an actual research article about bioprinting. The idea of being able to “print” organs has been around since 3D printing started to go mainstream. There have been real strides, it’s hard and expensive.

This paper outlines a new method to make a liver that actually works like a liver. They did this by using stem cells and “organoids” to mimic how the liver functions without actually needing to build an exact replica of the liver. Very cool and very technical, give it a read.

Thoughts and feedback about the extra credit this week or want to submit one for next week? Email Professor Sivak at m.sivak@northeastern.edu.
