Role: Policy Analyst

Organization: UHN OpenLab (Toronto General Hospital)

The NORC Innovation Centre is a new initiative from the University Health Network that aims to transform the way health care is delivered and experienced by seniors living in highrises with a high density of older adults (naturally-occurring retirement communities).

The UHN OpenLab is seeking a dynamic teammate who has a strong background in public policy, good understanding of federal, provincial and municipal policy domains, and excellent experience in policy research, analysis and consultations. As a member of UHN OpenLab, you will be working with team leaders, program partners, and subject matter experts to research and develop policy options to advance NORCs in Toronto/Ontario/Canada. (NORCs are high-rise buildings not necessarily designed for seniors but have become home to a high proportion of seniors.) You will conduct policy research, coordinate a table of policy advisors, and produce policy documents that help to create the right conditions for NORCs to thrive. These documents could be shared with governments and/or published.

General Responsibilities

  • Review existing policies (municipal, provincial, federal) and prototype new policies
  • Prepare and analyze data
  • Coordinate tables of experts to provide input and advice
  • Identify and interview relevant stakeholders to gather information and test ideas
  • Synthesize stakeholder input, weighing their pros and cons
  • Draft and edit policy documents
  • Work with the communications team to support knowledge dissemination
