Check out what we’ve been up to since January!

Medical Outreaches with Hands for Health

Entepesi Kenya (EK) started the new year with a BANG! Through a new partnership with Hands for Health (H4H), Kilimanjaro Mission Hospital (KMH), and the local Ministry of Health (MoH) Departments/clinics, 14 medical outreaches were hosted in the rural communities around Amboseli and Kuku area of Kajiado South County during the January annual medical camps season.

During the outreaches, medical students and doctors from Rocky Vista University evaluated, diagnosed, and treated medical illnesses. The MoH provided a Nutritionist, Pharmacist, Lab Tech, nurses and Community Health Volunteers (CHV) to make the health care provided sustainable and more impactful to the communities we served.

Together we served 1,593 men, women, and children with medical care. 1,073 received nutritional health education, and 12 people received Covid-19 vaccines. In addition, we had a physical therapist, deworming, childhood immunizations, and minor surgeries. We look forward to continuing this partnership annually.

You too can join the partnership by volunteering at the outreaches or donating to our Health Outreach Program! Click the button below.

Empowering Young Girls and Educating on Menstrual Hygiene

In the month of February, Entepesi Kenya (EK), in partnership with one of our Founding Directors, Christine Njihia, traveled to Olbili Primary School; a village where EK has hosted medical outreaches. While at Olbili, the group handed out reusable sanitary pads to the youth in need and took the opportunity to empower these young girls to not limit themselves or be limited by anything that happens to them in life.

During this event, the team helped hand out reusable pads donated by Rocky Vista University Students who came to Kenya in January. These pads will allow the girls to wash and reuse the pads each month, eliminating the cost of purchasing disposable ones. For a family living in poverty this not only saves money that can be used for school fees or food, this also allows the girls to continue attending classes during their cycle!

Through this opportunity Entepesi Kenya has begun the process to create a Sexual Health Education program. This program focuses on sexual reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, and family planning. We have a vision to work with schools in rural areas to provide education and sanitary pads to the girls in need.

A Month for Partnerships!

Strategic Development Goals (SGD) 2030 are guidelines Entepesi Kenya uses to partner globally in creating a better world for all people. SGD 17 is Partnerships for the goals. These partnerships include international and local individuals, businesses, and organizations to provide quality healthcare and education to serve the community of Kajiado County, Kenya.

Through multiple meetings Entepesi Kenya focused on strengthening and gaining new partnerships in order to serve people in need with medical outreach and health education. On the 17th of March, EK hosted a stakeholders meeting where the local Non-Profit/Community Service Organizations came to learn about each other’s programs and events. This will allow us to work together to better serve the communities.

We are excited to see where these partnerships will lead and the exponential impact that will happen as we stand strong together!
