Tas Government Ministerial Changes
|

|
Shelter Tas welcomes the new Premier of Tasmania, the Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP, and we thank the departing Premier the Hon Peter Gutwein MP for his engagement with housing and homelessness issues, seen most recently in his State of the State address.
We also thank the outgoing Minister for Housing, the Hon Michael Ferguson MP, for his commitment to the housing and homelessness sector and wish him well in the new roles of Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and Minister for Planning. We welcome the Hon Guy Barnett MP as the new Minister for Housing and look forward to working constructively with him and his team.

The federal election will be held on 21 May 2022.
Remember to enroll or update your voting details, and please note that people with no fixed address and people experiencing homelessness can also vote, see the AEC website for more details.
We support our fellow peak body, National Shelter's pre-election policy platform, calling on all parties and independent candidates to focus on the national housing crisis in this election and announce policy options that will make a meaningful difference to the lives of Australians who are struggling to find somewhere to live. COTA Tas' Active Ageing Consultation

The Council on the Ageing (COTA) Tas is undertaking statewide consultation around experiences of ageing as part of the new Government Strategy for Older Tasmanians 2023-2029. COTA is inviting community sector organisations to make a short submission to their H.E.A.R Active Ageing community consultation.
This can be in a brief 1-2 page letter format, outlining the key areas and issues you feel need to be considered when government is preparing the next Strategy for Older Tasmanians 2023-2029. Submissions can be emailed to brigidw@cotatas.org.au by COB 29th April 2022.
