The NIST presidential election will start soon. Our bylaws require all voters and candidates to be NIST members. Becoming a NIST member is free and you may opt out anytime. Membership benefits include:
  • Subscription to NIST communications (e.g. newsletter, event announcements, and teaching resources)
  • Eligibility to vote in NIST elections
  • Eligibility to run for NIST leadership offices (given previous participation in at least one SI/NIST program)
You may sign up to be a NIST Member at any time. Those who register before April 22, 2022, will have the opportunity to vote in this round of elections.

The Regional Summer Institutes application is now open.

 
This summer, NIST is offering three in-person Regional Summer Institutes on Scientific Teaching. Summer Institutes are intensive multi-day workshops intended for college and university faculty and future faculty, primarily of STEM disciplines. We encourage all interested applicants to apply for this opportunity.

Gulfcoast Regional, co-hosted by Rice University, Houston, TX. July 11 - 15

This Summer Institute will start the afternoon of Monday July 11 and conclude midday Friday July 15. Held on the Rice University campus, the registration fee of $1,500 will include lunches and dinner on Monday. Participants will be responsible for travel and housing. Closing date for applications is Sunday, May 22nd.

Northeast Regional, co-hosted by Macmillan Learning, New York City, NY. August 8 - 12

This Summer Institute will start the afternoon of Monday August 8 and conclude midday Friday August 12. Held at Macmillan Learning's downtown NYC offices, the registration fee of $1,650 will include lunches Tuesday through Friday and dinners on Monday and Thursday. Participants will be responsible for travel and housing. A block of hotel rooms is being held for participants in a local downtown Manhattan hotel at a rate of less than $200/night. Macmillan Scholarship opportunities are available for applicants accepted to this institute. Closing date for applications is Sunday, June 19th.
