Remembering George Perry Floyd
This past Wednesday marked the two-year anniversary since the world watched as George Perry Floyd took his last breaths on this Earth.
While this day marks his murder at the at the hands of MPD, we must not allow his legacy to be reduced to the last moments of his life.
Today I'm choosing to remember that he preferred to go by his middle name, Perry. I'm choosing to remember that he enjoyed walking through Walker Sculpture Garden, and listening to Chopped and Screwed music. I'm remembering the things that remind us he was human, because denying our humanity is how this country justifies our killing.
Rest in Power, Perry.

Findings from Minnesota Dept. of Human Rights Investigation into City of Minneapolis, Minneapolis Police Department
City officials received findings April 27 from the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) that there is probable cause that the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Police Department engage in a pattern or practice of race discrimination in violation of the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
The MDHR investigation launched June 1, 2020, after former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd May 25, 2020. City leaders received a high-level briefing of the findings April 27 and are digesting its findings.
In addition to the State of Minnesota investigation, the U.S. Department of Justice also has an ongoing pattern or practice investigation into the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Police Department.

Learn How to Have Your Water Tested for Lead
To learn more about your drinking water, consider having it tested for lead. Testing is simple and free.
The City of Minneapolis delivers lead-free water to its customers. But if your service line or home plumbing contains lead, the lead can get into your drinking water.
There is no safe level of lead, and it can cause serious health problems.
You can request a lead testing kit to check for lead levels in your water.
