Casey House onsite SCS now open

I am excited to share that Casey House outpatient services now includes on-site supervised consumption services (SCS). This service is part of our day health program and is available 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

This is in addition to the SCS on our 14-bed inpatient unit, which is open 24 hours a day and has been operating since August, 2021. In its first six months, inpatient clients used substances 176 times in the space, and 24 overdoses were reversed.

Referrals for outpatient SCS are the same as for our day health program. As it is imbedded within the hospital and not a public site, potential service users need to complete an intake process in order to become a registered client.

As a hospital that provides care for people living with and at risk of HIV, we are thrilled to be providing these services to help more people excluded from traditional care systems access the support they need.

To learn what our hospital-based SCS looks like and how clients use it, watch this video and get a tour of Casey House’s SCS.

We welcome new clients. To learn how to refer someone for inpatient or outpatient care, visit Become a Client at caseyhouse.ca to access our referral form.
Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, kicked-off consultations to build Canada’s first ever National Action Plan on Combatting Hate. These consultations build on the extensive work of the Federal Anti-Racism Secretariat, which engaged thousands of partners and stakeholders from across the country on combatting systemic racism, racial discrimination, and hate.

As the Government prepares to build the new National Action Plan, we would like to hear from you. You are invited to fill out the following online questionnaire by April 30, 2022, which will help us draft the Plan. To learn more about the consultations, please view this webpage.
