Hi there,
Need a startup idea?
We got you.
It’s been a while since we’ve done a Request for Startups (RFS), so here are a couple of new RFS ideas. If you’ve missed them in the past, you can find some of them here, here, here, and here.
Today’s are kid-focused.
TripAdvisor for kids’ summer camps
Identifying a suitable summer camp for your kids is unnecessarily difficult. This site would have reviews from parents and kids and let you filter by:
-
Topic/theme — academic, sports, fun, religious, etc.
-
Type — sleepaway vs. day, virtual vs. in-person
-
Cost
It’s a marketplace business and it takes a cut from camps it helps place kids in. It could expand into other categories, e.g., classes and enrichment programs during the school year to reduce the seasonality of the business.
And having a database of parents with their kids' interests is a gold mine for all sorts of other adjacent businesses or revenue streams.
The Nike of baby diapers
A D2C brand for high-performance diapers.
What is a high-performance diaper, you ask?
-
It uses extra sodium polyacrylate to make them super absorbent
-
It's designed to be more comfortable and easier to clean up
-
It senses when a baby is about to go, thus accelerating potty training
-
It uses AI to take samples and predicts illness (h/t Carl Ferreira for this idea)
Why?
-
Parents lose their minds when spending on their baby
-
Parents love to subtly flex about the isht they buy for baby (Stokke strollers, anyone?)
-
Anything that gives your baby an edge is easy money
Note: these facts don’t apply to first-generation immigrant parents who are generally cheap AF.
While the everyday kid slums it in Pampers, elite babies wear these diapers.
WDYT of these ideas? Love ‘em? Hate ‘em?
As always, neither CBI nor myself are interested in partnering or investing in these ideas. We just think there might be something to them so if you want to run with 1 of them, please do. Of course, do your own research and diligence as these ideas might stink.
