New features landed in Newspack this week |
We rolled out some things you'll be interested in. |
We'll be talking about these more during the publishers meeting on Tuesday, and you can get that on your calendar if you look at the last item in this newsletter. |
Here's a quick look at a few of the changes. |
More choices for Campaign prompt timing |
Previously, you could only set a prompt to show once a day or once a month. Now you can choose once a week or set up a custom schedule. You'll see these options now in the settings: |
We removed the Organic Profile Block |
Few publishers should still be using this, which has been replaced with a friendlier Newspack alternative. |
If you loved this block and need to know about your options, drop a note in the help channel. |
You'll now be able to turn your branding off and on in the footer. And we've made sure the footer will stick to the bottom of the viewport when a page or post has little content, leaving the page short. |
Some recent changes by Constant Contact recently made connecting a Newspack site to their service more difficult. Those problems have been patched up, and it's now another choice in the Newsletter plugin settings. |
Events, other post types can now be added to newsletters |
In response to publisher requests, story posts aren't the only thing available in the Newsletter plugin's Post Inserter. Pages, events and other listings now are options. |
Prompts can be targeted to lapsed donors |
If your site uses Stripe as its Reader Revenue platform, you will now be able to target former donors. |
Congrats to award-winning Newspack publishers |
S. Mitra Kalita, co-founder of URL Media (which includes several Newspack sites) and publisher of Epicenter-NYC, was the winner of the 2022 Impact Award honoring “a trailblazing individual whose work in digital journalism and dedication to innovation exhibits a substantial impact on the industry.” |

Newspack chief joins board dedicated to nonprofit news |
The Institute for Nonprofit News, with more than 400 member newsrooms, welcomes our own Kinsey Wilson to its governance board. |
It's a great connection, given the number of INN members who have joined Newspack — including Oklahoma Watch, the first U.S. publisher to use Newspack back in 2019. |
Tuesday's publishers call will go over year-end fundraising |
In addition to discussing the feature changes mentioned above, we'll spend time on Tuesday's call talking about strategies for fundraising. |
Ned Berke from BlueLena will lead the discussion. Aside from helping to run that great service, Ned has sat in a publisher's chair at a couple different publications, so he definitely knows of what he speaks. |

We have a meeting every other Tuesday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. This is for publishers and developers to get together, but it is by no means mandatory. Most of the meeting is turned over to guest speakers for professional development, or to one of our team members to highlight a major change to the Newspack platform. We use this meeting to update you on business and product developments, as well. |
The next meeting is May 17. |
And here’s a handy way to get them all on your calendar: |
We also hold a 30-minute How To session each Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. We offer a quick look at one topic, block, feature or other useful maneuver. You can see how these work by going here for or small-but-growing library of videos. The password is ilovenews |
