Vennture - a new Mallard patrol
Vennture, the ecumenically run social action organisation based in Hereford has started a new initiative that has already seen them save a life and locate three missing people.  Mallards are the latest extension to Vennture’s street patrols, working with the police and Herefordshire Council’s CCTV team to keep people safe.  From twilight to midnight, the uniformed volunteers work in teams of 3 out of the bright vehicle displaying the Vennture logo.
If you are interested in helping to provide a calm reassuring presence on Hereford’s river paths, Castle Green and King George V playing fields, please contact Esther or Carol at Vennture Tel 0330 20 20 730 or email enquiries@vennture.org.uk
“Like our Street Pastors, Mallards are there to listen, care and help; mostly it is about a friendly hello or a simple chat and it is amazing the difference a smile or a few kind words can make when someone is anxious or feeling alone.”

Good News for Everyone - Coffee Morning

Good News for Everyone! (formerly known as GideonsUK) serves to introduce others to the Lord Jesus Christ by the placing, presenting and/or distributing Scriptures.  Locally, they are holding a Coffee Morning at Leominster Baptist Church, Etnam Street, on Saturday 1st October from 10am to 12 noon.  All are welcome – there will be no charge but donations would be welcome.

Warm Welcome

According to the latest Citizens Advice forecast, 1 in 4 people simply won’t be able to afford their new energy bills this October.  The Warm Welcome Campaign is determined to equip and support thousands of free, warm and welcoming spaces in communities across the country.  Could your church offer such a space?  Pledging support on behalf of an organisation means pledging to open your doors to a space where those who are struggling to keep warm this winter can go and get a free, warm and friendly welcome.  To find out more, check the Warm Welcome website.

Anti-Slavery Day - pledge

The Clewer Initiative is inviting churches and individuals to sign up for the pledge to Make It Slavery Free,  to mark Anti-Slavery Day – Tuesday 18th October.  To find out more and for full details of all the resources to support Anti-Slavery Day, check the Clewer Initiative website.
HOPE TOGETHER - Our Faithful Queen

Hope Together are suggesting a way churches can reach out to their communities with a fitting and appropriate memorial gift for any wanting to give something away to help others grasp the centrality of the Queen’s faith over her lifetime of Service.  You can order copies of this 64-page book full of photos and prayers, from the HOPE shop.
Prisons Week - a week of prayer

For nearly 50 years, Prisons Week has encouraged Christians to pray for all those affected by crime and imprisonment.  The Week of Prayer, this year 9th-15th October, raises awareness of the needs of prisoners and their families, victims of offenders, prison staff and all those who care.  To find out more and access free resources to promote the Campaign and pray through the week, see the website.
