To affirm is to declare that something is 100 percent true, and to stand in that truth — even in the face of all evidence to the contrary. Affirmations are positive statements of intention that direct your focus to what you want to experience.
Affirmation:
I have financial freedom.

Reverend Bonnie L. Smith
Reverend Bonnie felt the call to ministry when she was in High School back in the 70’s. She attended Grinnell College where she double majored in religion and psychology graduating with a BA (1980). Reverend Bonnie then became a certified American Sign Language interpreter, and has been serving the deaf community for over 30 years.
Rev Bonnie found her home in Religious Science in 2000 when she walked into the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living. She moved to Las Cruces in 2006 as she started her last year at the Holmes Institute with the goal of becoming a Community Spiritual Leader in some capacity through the Centers for Spiritual Living. She received her MA in Consciousness Studies from the Holmes Institute in 2007. Presently she is an ordained Religious Science minister and Practitioner, and in the spring of 2013 began serving CSL in the Heart of Las Cruces, first as Interim, and then as the Permanent Community Spiritual Leader in November 2014.
Rev. Bonnie believes that uplifting our consciousness uplifts and changes our lives. You can meet with her for personal spiritual counseling, pastoral care, or to gain a deeper understanding of these teachings by making an appointment. Rev. Bonnie and the Center are also available to serve you in celebrating life events such as weddings, & memorials, etc. In addition, she is also fluent in American Sign Language. Rev. Bonnie can be reached by calling or texting 575-635-8081, emailing lavlight@gmail.com, or leaving her a message at the Center.

Nancy Walczak is calling for our spiritual community to donate gently used luggage and duffle bags to children in the foster care system. Many times, the child is given 10 minutes to pack up everything they own in garbage bags and is expected to move on. Give the gift of a little dignity, and bring your donations to the office please.

|
Gentle reminder: We are still collecting canned goods and non-perishables for distribution to the larger community. Also, Unity is still collecting toiletries. Please bring your donations to the bins outside the office.

TRUSTEES IN TOUCH
Greetings CSL Members and Friends,
On Sept. 6., 2022, the CSL Board convened its regular monthly meeting. As part of our “Trustees In-Touch” program I wanted to share some important and exciting details from the meeting.
The following is a summary overview:
Financial Update:
We recently received a Mid-Year Financial update from the CSL ‘Home Office”. It revealed that there has been a “collective decline in revenue through-out the organization that has affected almost every ministry and department” and has also touched every CSL affiliated organization. Fortunately for CSL Las Cruces, your faithful giving has helped us weather the financial storm of 2021 and help offset declining attendance in 2022. I am excited to say that financially, we are doing good. Our operating and cash reserves remain stable with little decline and the equity position has actually improved. We are able to pay our staff, bills, and vendors on-time. That is wonderful news.
As we continue to open up the ministry to in-place meetings and events, we will continue to watch the situation and look as to how we may attract more people to the Center. It is the desire of this Board to assure our CSL members that the Center for Spiritual Living in the Heart of Las Cruces is alive and well. Thank you so much to each of you for your resiliency in giving faithfully. It is much appreciated.
Don’t forget, we have a Treasure Sale coming up in the end of October.
Building Committee Update:
The Board approved Phase 1: Treasure Sale/Clean-Up & Minor Building Repairs. Some of the tasks include:
· Sell the hutch in the sanctuary;
· Replace broken window and fix damaged window frames; paint trim.
· Add 2 way black thermal window film to Main Street windows;
· Patch & paint Main Street façade peeled stucco locations;
· Add vinyl signage in openings in the tower;
· Mount projector from ceiling in Sanctuary;
· Clean out garage and back storage for Treasure sale;
· Relocate light switches out of the office and into the Sanctuary;
· Construct new stair to 2nd floor.
We look forward to rejuvenating the “body” of CSL with these projects. If you are interested in helping, let a Board Member know.
Thanks,
Doug Bensen
Board Treasurer & Building Committee Co-Chair

Buying on Amazon?
They have a great program we participate in.
In order for the Center to get a small percentage of the sale, the sale has to be placed on the smile.amazon.com website!
If you just purchase from the regular old Amazon.com website, it is not credited to our church.
Please use the smile.amazon.com link to buy holiday gifts on Amazon.
This simple change will have your purchases on Amazon automatically credited to CSL's account. It's a donation program that funnels a small portion of the purchase price toward CSL.
Just go to smile.amazon.com
instead of amazon.com
These donations don't cost you anything extra, and you can be helping your spiritual home increase revenue.
NOTE: our legal name is First Church of Religious Science DBA Center for Spiritual Living, so look for First Church of Religious Science in Las Cruces for donations to be made to us.
Sign up on Amazon Smile so that $5 of every $1000 spent will be allocated to The Center for Spiritual Living
in the Heart of Downtown.

Tithes and Donations can be made using:

~ DONATE button on the website: csl-lascruces.org
~ Mailed to the office: 575 N. Main Street, Las Cruces, NM 88001
~ Dropped off at the Center, through the mail slot in the back door
