Unity in Community: Special Chapter Leader Event
Join us on Sunday, Oct 16 at 4 pm ET (1 pm PT) as we bring together our community for a special chapter leader event. You will hear from our CEO, Beverley Francis-Gibson, meet our new Volunteer Manager, Kia Hunter, and learn about how our Featured Grants are selected from a member of our volunteer Grant Selection Committee. We will provide opportunities for chapter leaders to meet each other, ask questions, and share success stories on effective chapter sustainability. We will also be providing a sneak preview of our 20th Anniversary Celebration. You won’t want to miss this special program as we have a few surprises planned along the way!

In the true spirit of community, we would also like you to invite a member of your chapter to join you for this special event. We can't wait to see you there!

Discussion Questions for Discussion
  1. What do you think are the multi-layered benefits of this project beyond an increase in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) knowledge?
  2. How does the broader community play a vital role in this project?
  3. How does the inclusion of boys help advance gender equality? Do you think it is more or less important in the context of this project?

The Proven Platter for October: Nacatamales

By Georgia Reader, Together Women Rise Recipe Co-Curator
It’s never too early for this traditional Honduran Christmas food: stuffed masa dumplings, which are wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. Customize the filling and have fun wrapping these for a delicious meal.

Chapter Leader Info & Reminders
1. 2022 Annual Appeal – In October, we kick off our annual appeal which runs through the end of the year. Nearly one-third of our total funds come from our annual appeal. These funds are used for current year expenses to:
  • Fully fund our grants and partnerships
  • Conduct rigorous screening, vetting, and monitoring of our grantees
  • Provide excellent learning materials and engagement opportunities for our members
  • Support new and existing chapters across the US
  • Recruit and retain a highly competent and experienced staff
Our 2021 annual appeal goal is $450,000. Thanks to you, we exceeded this amount last year; please help us do so again! Please watch for future communications coming soon!
