Alice Springs Desert Festival: NEW mural for Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre
Under the guidance of senior artists Mervyn Rubuntja, Selma Coulthard, Vanessa Inkamala and Reinhold Inkamala, a group of emerging artists enthusiastically engaged in creating a mural depicting the delicate beauty of our Ntatha (native flora). The artists drew further inspiration from a previous collaboration done with artist and friend Tony Albert. The participating artists included: Dellina Inkamala, Mandy Malbunka, Delray Inkamala, and Dianne Inkamala.
The new Alice Springs Post Office wall mural titled: Don’t stamp on Country, by Iltja Ntjarra artists is part of this year’s Project Seed, which is a Red Hot Arts initiative to support local artists in their development and creation of new work. The Post Office wall located in the Post Office lane, opposite the Supreme Court, holds particular significance in that it reimagines the 2002 Birth Centenary of the Albert Namatjira Mini Sheet stamp set, a fitting tribute to a true Australian icon.
