This years Professional’s Day to the members will be held on Sunday October 9th and Wednesday October 12th (Ladies can play either day) in aid of Remember Us. Remember US is a social group for people with special needs based in Balbriggan.
A young man with down syndrome by the name of Adam took part in one of our Introduction to Golf classes this summer. From talking to Adam and his mother, Aileen, I heard about the fantastic work Remember Us do for people of all ages with special needs.
Here is a link with information on the back story of how and why Remember Us was set up- Our Story | Remember Us
The competition on the day will be singles stableford, Yellow/Red tees with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in both ladies and gents categories. The entry fee is €10 with all proceeds going to charity. Anyone who is unable to play on the day but would like to donate can do so in the proshop.
As always, I would like to thank all members for their support of my annual event and I look forward to seeing all competitors on the day.
Kind regards,
Alan O’Sullivan

Friday Nighters Final
Mexican Scramble Saturday 8th October - time sheet open now.
What is a Mexican Scramble I hear you ask??? All tee off, pick best drive. The next shot is played by all except the person whose drive was picked. And so on for each subsequent shot. (So 4 shots to choose from from tee but then only 3 for subsequent shots.)
The entry fee arrangements will be the same as usual - cash to be submitted before play. The amounts are different to the regular Friday Night events - €30 for members, €35 for guests for a three course meal in the Carrickbrack Room.

Mens Monday Nighters
Our twenty third and final regular outing of the season saw 44 competitors tackle the course in blustery conditions. Quite a few players ‘had previous’ so budgetry style calculations had to be applied before the dust settled and Vincent Moore was declared the winner with a nett 21 points. Muiris Heron continued his consistent form to take second place on the last 6 from Tony Roe both on 18 points, while Pat Meade used his extra reach to take fourth with a nett 17 points.
Jonathan Butler birdied the 8th while Sean C O’Mahony had an interesting 2 at the 4th. Significantly, he didn’t use a putter, primarily as its not a very effective club out of heather… Each of them wins €22!
1st Vincent Moore - 21 points (22-1 prev) €40
2nd Muiris Heron – 18 points (20-2 prev) (L6) €30
3rd Tony Roe – 18 points €20
4th Pat Meade - 17 points (18-1 prev) €10
All prizes will be credited to your shop accounts gents.
Our season will finish with the Michael Kelly Trophy on Saturday 1st October and our Annual Dinner that night. There is still time to join the timesheet or the dinner tables! If you’re playing on Saturday and coming to the dinner please remember to bring a bottle of wine / some golf balls so that everyone goes away with something…we hate to see grown men cry.
