Cambodia's 'Pchum Ben' Holidays 🛕

Typhoon season has arrived in Japan. How is the weather where you are?

In Cambodia it was Pchum Ben, a 15-day religious festival honoring seven generations of ancestry. Following the last workshop of the year, the entire Tukstaff has taken their leave and enjoyed their extended holidays with their families.

It's the middle of the rainy season in Cambodia. The drop in temperature that follows rainfall makes it more likely for people to get sick easily and TukStaff are not exception.. so we'll focus on our physical well-being for the last three months of 2022. (Wow, how time flies!)

To everyone in the Tuk Krousah, please take care of yourselves and don't get sick as the weather changes!

BRAND NEW RESOURCE PACKAGE! 🏵️

The CLIP2 project will have four resource packages completed by the end of 2023. The 'Being Good' resource package is now complete, and we can officially upload the second bundle on our website! This package's contents include classroom decorations.

Although the Ministry of Education has developed some rules for classroom decorations, only a few classes in the project's target schools meet these standards due to funding constraints, the time and effort required to produce them, and a lack of adequate venues to display them.

We developed a resource bundle for decorations in response to requests from officers at the Provincial and Districts of Department of Education (PoE and DoE), allowing instructors to more quickly and freely prepare the classroom environment. The officers suggested the colors, typefaces, and layout, and illustrators Choven and Chhingchhing added cute finishing touches to them. 🎵

THE FINAL WORKSHOP OF THE YEAR 👩‍🏫

CLIP2 project's last workshop of 2022 took place in September where we focused on  the creation of classroom decorations and introducing a resource package based on the TukBook, "Which Job Would You Like?"

An officer from the PoE served as an instructor, answering the participating teachers' questions and clarifying the evaluation criteria for the school assessment that we conducted in June.

In comparison to earlier workshops, the teachers appeared even more involved this time, suggesting that as the number of seminars progressed, the environment became more laid-back. There is generally only one teacher in a preschool setting, but by organizing these sessions, we were able to provide an opportunity for those who confront a wide range of issues in the classroom to share their experiences and perspectives. Delivering these kinds of trainings is indeed very valuable.

KHMER OF THE MONTH

Khmer Word: Kruo Bangrien
"World Teachers' Day" is celebrated on October 5. It is an international day dedicated to expressing appreciation and respect to our teachers. We are very grateful to our TukTuk partners, the "Kruo Bangrien" (teachers), who continue to support us in our day-to-day activities, and we are looking forward to working with them to make the CLIP Project even more exciting in the remaining time! 😀

9 MONTHS INTO THE PROJECT 🏆

We kicked off the CLIP2 Project earlier this year, and just wrapped up its third quarter (July-September) last month. During the course of these three months, we were able to carry out the following activities.

★ Launching of the Digital Library
Installation of AccessBoxes in the target schools
★ Holding the 3rd workshop follow-up school visits
★ Creation of the resource package for classroom decorations
★ Holding the 4th workshop

In November, we plan to hold a meeting with all project participants, including officers from the PoE and DoE, to reflect on this year's activities. 🙏

Additionally, we are starting the ball rolling on our eighth TukBook! To ensure that it is ready for you at the start of the new year, the entire team will continue to put in a lot of effort. 💪.

VOLUNTUKER SPOTLIGHT | SALLY

Sally has been volunteering with TukTuk since our first storybook, 'Jack the Giant'. She has been a wealth of assistance to us in developing both our visuals and storylines as she is an author and illustrator of over 40 books herself!

Sally has not only volunteered her services in the past three and a half years, but she has also generously donated her books, which are now housed in our mobile libraries.

If you want to learn more about Sally or acquire one of her wonderful books, you can do so here.
