In addition to helping bring the presence of God to the children and staff through song and worship, Dr. Boehm formed relationships with local church pastors. Their congregants are now bringing God’s presence through song and worship to the children and staff too.
Mia, a student in Wheaton’s Special Education Endorsement program who also worked with Heart’s Cry this summer, writes this about her time there: “Working in Casa Providencia taught me about God's heart for children with special needs, specifically orphans. I felt growing love for them and each of their individual personalities. I have never experienced seeing through God's eyes so evidently before, but Casa Providencia seems to bring that out!"
As the Center continues to engage with the orphanage and with local pastors to equip churches, PRAY for the Spirit of the Lord to move upon Panamanian churches in making special needs more biblical, normative, and transformative in becoming communities of belonging and flourishing for all!
