Invasive Plant Removal:
Swan Conservation Trust
|
|
|
For a few years now, our chapter and friends have assisted the Swan Conservation Trust in their effort to add and protect land near the headwaters of Big Swan Creek near Summertown, TN (Lewis County). We have assisted mainly with the removal of invasive plants. We will have another volunteer day on a newly acquired property on Saturday, September 24 from 10 AM until 2 PM CDT (or for however long you are available). Our Event page has all the details. Deborah will talk about the four native plant restoration projects she has been involved with on her property in Dickson County. And, there's a video! Deborah supplied us with a drone video of her first restoration that is the most watched video on the chapter YouTube channel.

Table Event: Dragon Boat Festival

Our chapter will have a booth at the Cumberland River Compact's 14th Annual Dragon Boat Festival at Cumberland Park. Our booth will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM. We need volunteers to fill shifts from 8:30 to 4:30. Signup up via our event page or go directly to signup.com using the button:

Our chapter, in partnership with Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary, will hold the Fall Native Plant and Seed Sale on Saturday, October 22 from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. Online ordering for October 21 (Friday) pickup at Owl's Hill will be available beginning Monday, October 10, and will remain open until Noon on Tuesday, October 18. Online orders need to be picked up on Friday, May 13 at Owl's Hill between 9 AM and 3 PM.
We will need lots of volunteers Wednesday through Saturday, October 19 - 22 (Wednesday through Saturday), to help make this sale successful. The October 15 deadline for the Wild Ones' Seeds for Education grant program is rapidly approaching.
