September 30th is Orange Shirt Day !
Orange Shirt Day or National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake in the spring of 2013. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom, well-being and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children forcibly taken from their families over generations.
The day finally became a Canadian statutory holiday, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, in 2021, in light of the confirmation of over thousands of unmarked graves near former residential school sites.

IEMHP embraces this opportunity to create meaningful learning opportunities about the effects of residential schools and other colonization-related disasters, and the tragic legacy they have left, and are still leaving, behind.
Natural Helpers for the Children Learning Circle
In our ongoing partnerships with Indigenous communities, IEMHP has had the privilege to work with Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) and the communities of Moosonee and Moose Factory to create the Natural Helpers for the Children Learning Circle

Natural Helpers for the Children Learning Circle is a very innovative initiative about to be piloted in the fall in Moose Factory & Moosonee, ON.  This 8-part Learning Circle, co-developed and delivered by Indigenous experts and Elders, was designed with an exceptionally broad audience in mind: Parents, students, caregivers, professionals, extended family… It's for any interested community members! The goal of the program is not only to build awareness and understanding about prenatal, infancy and early childhood development, but also to emphasize how the whole community plays and important role and everyone has something valuable to contribute to their community and future generations.
