he Rio Grande Farm Park in Alamosa, CO, hums in the evenings with people who have already put in a full day of work.

They clock out of their day jobs then flood the fields to pick weeds, till dirt, or harvest crops with the hopes of one day starting their own agriculture business.

Nestled along the Rio Grande in the San Luis Valley, the Park functions as an incubator for people looking to learn the farming ropes.

I spent several evenings this summer walking the fields in my work boots with camera in hand and a strobe slung over my shoulder. As I introduced myself to these farmers and some of their families who were there to help, I could sense that this was a pursuit of a dream for them.

That aspiration combined with the warm glow of Colorado dry summer evenings led to the visual mood I infused into the images. Catch more from the project on my blog. doug gritzmacher denver photographer
