TODAY Rally to End Criminalization of Sex Workers

Sex Workers Launch Constitutional Court Challenge to Fight
Oct 3rd, 12:45-1:45pm
393 University Ave

Check out their site for up-to-date information.

Sex workers are going back to court to fight against criminal laws that harm them. Join this rally at the Ontario Superior Court.

BACKGROUND
In 2014, the Conservative government passed the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act (PCEPA) that forced sex workers to work in a context of criminalization. Instead of protecting sex workers - as it claimed to do - PCEPA violates their rights and autonomy, increases stigmatization and isolation, and endangers our health and safety! We need to end criminalization so that sex workers can live and work safely and freely! Join this series of events to show your solidarity with sex workers in their fight to end the criminalization of sex work!

Anti-Racism and Migrant Rights Webinar Series

With Standing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ)
anti-racism webinar series (on Zoom) | Part 1 of 3
Thurs. Oct 6, 2022, 6:30pm

Register for free here.
*ASL interpretation will be available*

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
For white folks, unlearning racism, and learning how to be anti-racist is life-long work and life-long learning. No matter what stage you’re at with your learning, everyone is warmly welcome!

This workshop introduces participants to the power dynamics of global capitalism, war, occupation, and colonialism that shape why people move. It will discuss the realities of the Canadian immigration and refugee systems, dispel common myths, and illuminate the realities of what life is really like for the 1.7 million, mostly racialized people, living as migrant workers, students, and refugees as well as those living in the shadows undocumented without immigration status.
The workshop will also introduce participants to the ways that migrant communities are resisting, the vital work of the Migrant Rights Network, the struggle for status for all, and the ways that all of us, from every walk of life, can contribute to the struggle of justice and dignity for all.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Syed Hussan is a Toronto based-activist, executive director of the Migrant Workers Alliance for Change, and a member of the Migrant Rights Network Secretariat.

Black Femmes Circle

Oct 5th, 4-5:30 (and every other Wed)

Join facilitator Emily (sher/her) to talk about Blackness, it's beauty, unlearn oppressive euro centric beauty standards and more! Space is closed to Black women and femmes of any shade and heritage. As always women and femmes means trans, cis and nonbinary inclusive.
