Autumn. Our favourite time in these parts of the world. And it never fails to surprise us that, when it’s feeling benevolent, nature seemingly stretches late summer well into October and early November. Leaves still on the trees and enough warmth in the sun to make an hour or two on the Old Coastguard terrace a perfectly painless experience.
Below, the odd nugget of interest from both Wales and Cornwall, with the priority to draw your eye to the last two weeks of our wonderful exhibition at The Old Coastguard, From Mousehole to Marazion. The work of three friends, all now based in West Cornwall, and all exceptional in their own way. Well worth a visit to Mousehole of itself.
Come to see us soon. With our best wishes as ever.

From Mousehole to Marazion: last chance

Our summer exhibition comes to an end on 9 October. It has brought together the sublime works of sisters, Sophie Harding and Sasha Harding, and long time friend, Gemma Pearce, all local residents in West Cornwall.
Please do come and see it, and maybe even find yourself clutching a parcel to take home, before it finishes. To learn more about the exhibition and the artists, and to view a snapshot of their work, click here.
If you’d like to have a spot of lunch at the same time, you can find a table here.

Within the greater scheme of things, one of the less significant impacts of Covid was the removal of our EDS Wine Suppers from the calendar. They return this Autumn and Winter, loosening the reins just a touch for our kitchens and putting our wine importers into a momentary limelight.

We start on Friday (still the odd ticket available here) with The Griffin’s Tomato Supper, marking the publication of Tomato by Claire Thomson, author and long time heartbeat of our wine effort. This will be Chef Nick Evans’ first FFG wine event.
Beyond that, join us at The Gurnard’s for an Atlantic Coast Supper, with wines from Ben Llewelyn of Carte Blanche Wines. He’s a master of truffling out the efforts of small winemakers throughout Europe, but one of his strengths seems to be those Atlantic coastlines that share so many characteristics and history with Cornwall. Tickets from here.

Still our best offer, designed eons ago to allow our guests to get away for a single night on the spur of the moment. Now very sensibly planned by guests in a more structured way and for multiple nights. Coffee or tea when you get to us, 3 courses from anywhere on our evening menu, a bed (and duvet and pillows) and a tip top breakfast the next day.
Sunday - Thursday, from 30 October until late March (excl. holidays). From £195 in Wales and from £190 in Cornwall. As ever, the bigger and better the room, the more material the economic advantage. To check availability, click on the respective site below.
