News Summary

  • Two West Marin evacuation routes, along with hillsides in Marin City and Tamalpais Valley, will soon be scrubbed free of hazardous fire fuels. A fourth project costing $394,000 — to clear dead and dying vegetation along evacuation roads in Inverness, Tomales, Bolinas, Stinson Beach, Nicasio, Point Reyes, Olema and San Geronimo Valley — is awaiting state approval. Saturday

  • The Point Reyes Farmers Market takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Toby’s Feed Barn. Michael Klapholz plays music on the outdoor stage at 9:30 a.m. and Mariko Wilkinson of West Bound and Found speaks at 10 and again at 11:30 a.m. at the Chef’s Corner. 
  • Help rangers pull invasive iceplant from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Beach parking lot in the Point Reyes National Seashore. Information and registration at www.nps.gov/pore/planyourvisit/calendar.htm.
  • A workshop in weaving with locally harvested tule takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fibershed Learning Center, near Point Reyes Station. Led by Rimiko Berreman. $120; scholarships available. Details at www.fibershed.org.

  • A grand reopening of the Borge Gallery takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at 221 B Street, in Point Reyes Station. Featuring landscape paintings by Martha Borge and symbolic realism paintings by Ralph Borge. The gallery will be open every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. 
  • A memorial for Dave Brast takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. outdoors at the Dance Palace Community Center. Drinks and finger food provided; no alcohol, please. If you want to share a longer story, email David Clarkson at dc@pointreyes.com.
