Thank You! UM Canada and Kinesso paint 200+ Light Poles
On July 22nd and September 22nd UM Canada and their sister company Kinesso, undertook their Global Impact Days in our BIA.

These annuals events have each company committing resources to serving local communities. Between the two dates over 150 volunteers worked in our BIA repainting 200+ of the Toronto Hydro owned short victorian light poles lining our streets.

Kevin, our Streetscape & Events Supervisor, worked to organize supplies and map the poles. This lead to successful events for these teams and helped maintain these poles for very little cost. (Both companies also made financial donations to help pay for painting supplies!)

We thank UM and Kinesso for their wonderful volunteer work and hope to work with these teams again next year to tackle another 200+ poles!

REMINDER: I Heart Market Street Project 2022 Survey

Your opinion is valued. The general public and local business representatives are encouraged to share their feedback on the I Heart Market Street project which temporarily pedestrianized Market Street this summer from June through September 2022.

The Market Street pedestrian area is from Front Street East to The Esplanade. Car and bicycle traffic are not permitted in the area while the pedestrianization is in place.

During this time the street has been transformed into a public space with seating areas, entertainment and activities.

CafeTO removals are coming!

As the patio season comes to an end, the City of Toronto's CafeTO/Transportation Services department plan to remove curb lane patios.

Stand Alone Curb Lane Patios
(See example photo above. No immediately adjacent cafés on either side.)
If you plan to cease operating in the curb lane on/before October 5, 2022, please email CafeTO@toronto.ca NOW, so they can coordinate removal and you won't have to wait for removal until the rest of our area's patios are removed, at a later date.

All Curb Lane Patios
CafeTO will begin their process of city-wide curb lane cafe removals shortly after the October 5th date. CaféTO will notify you in advance of the removal timeframe. We do not know the approximate date yet. We do not know exactly how much of a warning you will get. It may be smart to plan for just under 1 week of notice. The city-wide 2022 curb lane cafe season ends November 7, 2022 and the CafeTO team, working with Transportation Services, have hundreds of curb lane cafes to remove by this date.

Questions: If you have questions, please email CafeTO@toronto.ca and cc stephenm@stlawrencemarketbia.ca.
