Standing ringside at a competitive cattle show is a type of high that has captivated so many in the registered dairy cattle industry. Watching your time, money and energy parade across the shavings, looking the best she ever has, gets your heart racing analyzing the judge's every move and nervously tapping your toe. For Denton Ross of the Arizona Dairy Company, nervous was an understatement when watching one of his cows, Scenic-Edge Jordan-Red, parade the shavings during the Junior 3-Year-Old Red & White class at World Dairy Expo last October.

World Dairy Expo: Time for a change

Change is never easy and can even be uncomfortable at times. With a global industry event, the stakes are even higher when it comes to altering a schedule that has been in place for over 20 years. This year, World Dairy Expo (WDE) is shifting from a weeklong schedule to a six-day event structure, taking place from Oct. 2-7, 2022. The event will still include all the premier events attendees and exhibitors travel to Madison, Wisconsin, for each year – such as the dairy cattle show, seminars, virtual farm tours and the trade show, just in a condensed format.

Throughout its history, World Dairy Expo (WDE) has been proud to welcome a few thousand international guests to Madison, Wisconsin, each year as the meeting place for global dairy industry enthusiasts. While only a small fraction of these guests attended WDE in 2021 due to travel restrictions, this year is expected to renew the multinational presence the event is known (and named) for. Ready to welcome these guests back to one of the best-known dairy cattle shows in the world is Berta Hansen.
