New Fellow Wellness Supports for 2022-23

ATC has partnered with the non-profit organization edwell to provide personalized wellness coaching for all ATC fellows and staff members during the 2022-23 school year! Edwell was created to provide wellness supports for educators by educators - edwell consists of educators, therapists, and coaches who know what it's like to work in schools and with students.

For the 2022-23 school year, edwell is offering three wellness supports:

1. Corps-Wide Professional Development

A four-part workshop series for all Fellows that provides a high level overview of trauma-informed support and implementation strategies for the classroom. The PD sequence includes four modules:
  1. Understanding the Brain - Wed 10/19
  2. Understanding Ourselves - Wed 11/16
  3. Classroom Implementation - Wed 1/8
  4. Prioritizing Wellbeing - Wed 2/15
All webinars will take place at 6-7pm CST via Zoom. By attending these calls, Fellows will also earn official PD credit toward their required ATC hours. These webinars are designed to be interactive and include lots of breakout groups for peer-to-peer collaboration.

2. Intensive Learning Cohort

A 12-week learning cohort with your colleagues, where you'll dive deep into the science behind how our brain works, and learn practical strategies for classroom wellbeing. An edwell facilitator will lead a cohort of up to 18 Arkansas Teacher Corps fellows and staff through the year-long brain-based teaching course, including neurobiology basics, safety and connection in learning, experiences that shape our behaivor, role of early systems, and shifting perspectives.

The cohort will meet every other Thursday at 5-6pm for an hour-long seminar; those dates are 10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 1/5, 1/19, 2/2, 2/16, 3/2, 3/16, 3/30, 4/13, and 4/27. Participants will also meet quarterly with the cohort facilitator to coach and develop the theories that they are learning into tangible practices.

3. Individualized Coaching

Creating healing-centered classrooms begins with a teacher's own wellbeing. Edwell offers year-round wellness coaching to support educators. You choose your own coach and schedule your own sessions.

An edwell coach will provide 50-minute one-on-one coaching sessions for all interested fellows and staff over Zoom, aligned with the edwell coaching framework. Wellness coaches are all current or former teachers, and care deeply about supporting the wellbeing of their peers. After opting in, participants have the opportunity to select one of over 60 wellness coaches based on their personal needs and preferences.

In wellness coaching, educators talk about work, personal lives, emotions, stress, and everything in between! With their coach, they'll set goals and track progress towards holistic wellbeing. Coaches are trained by wellness experts and are supervised by one of edwell's licensed therapists. Conversations are confidential and remain between you and your wellness coach.
