As we say farewell to summer (at least from where this is being written), we bring you our 2022 Write-a-Thon results! We would like to thank everyone who participated in the Thon, as well as everyone who donated and helped us spread the word. It makes a tremendous difference to us. But first, we also wanted to honor the memory of someone who served Clarion for a long time.

In Memoriam
We're deeply saddened to announce the passing of Tom Chmielewski, Clarion class of 1984. Tom served as Treasurer to the Clarion Foundation from 2016-2022. He did tremendous work behind-the-scenes for the Foundation, including supporting our Thon fundraiser for numerous years. Tom was part of a robust writing community in Kalamazoo, where he served for many years at the Kalamazoo Gazette. He was also an arts writer, freelance writer, and science-fiction writer, starting with his first novel, "Lunar Dust, Martian Sands," in 2014. You may read Tom's full obituary here. Tom is survived by his family and many dear friends.
In his honor, the Clarion Foundation has set up the Tom Chmielewski scholarship fund, which is designated for older writers who wish to attend Clarion. If you would like to donate, you can do so through any of the methods on our donation page.

Final Write-a-Thon Results
We're incredibly grateful to our Write-a-Thon participants for helping us to raise $6713.34 to support the Clarion workshop this year! As many of you know, the Write-a-thon is our primary annual fundraiser, and the majority of the funds will go to scholarships to our Clarion Class of 2023.
Missed out on the Thon but still want to donate? We're always appreciative of support, and all donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations can be easily processed at this link!
