THANK YOU
Thank you to everyone who helped over a very busy weekend, with Doors Opens Day on Saturday 24th September, Climate Sunday and the Thanksgiving Service for the late Qeen on Sunday 25th September. All three of these very different events went well with a great deal of appreciative comment and feedback, and also with a great deal of work both behind and in front of the scenes from the staff and volunteers who were involved. Thank you.

HARVEST FESTIVAL, SUNDAY 2 OCTOBER
- Harvest gifts will go to FareShare: please bring non-perishable foods
- The Great Cathedral Jam and Chutney Sale will take place after the Cathedral Eucharist (proceeds to FareShare)...
- ... together with a bring-and-share lunch. Can you bring a contribution? (Otherwise the lunch may consist entirely of jam and chutney.) Can you volunteer to help set up the hall, serve food, or clear away afterwards? Volunteers needed! If you can help, please let the Provost know, on provost@saintpaulscathedral.net.
- At the lunch there will be a collection plate for the Diocese of Swaziland. If you can't be there and would like to contribute, there'll be an opportunity to do so on the following Sunday after the service.

SATURDAY OPENING
The Cathedral will be closed to visitors on Saturday 1st October. No volunteers are available to staff it.
Normally the Cathedral opens for a couple of hours on Saturdays, from 2.00 to 4.00 pm. Staffing it just means being available in the building, to keep an eye on things and in case visitors have questions.
There are now good resources for visitors, including a walk-round guide, and we had 175 people comign through the doors on Doors Open Day. We're the only church that's regularly open for visitors in the city centre. It would be very good if we were able to be open regularly on Saturdays and usually we can, thanks to a small team of volunteers. But we do need more volunteers. Could you help? Contact Bob at treasurer@saintpaulscathedral.net

HARVEST GIFTS
Harvest gifts, together with donations for tea and coffee last Sunday, will go to FareShare Dundee. FareShare collects surplus quality food from local suppliers and retailers. The food, which would otherwise end up in landfill, is 'fit for purpose' but surplus due to packaging errors, over-production or being close to the end of its shelf life. FareShare redistributes the food - including fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products - free of charge to community organisations providing residential and day services for disadvantaged groups of people in Dundee, Perth & Kinross and Angus.

FLOWERS
Thank you to the team who have contributed and arranged flowers for Harvest. There's a beautiful autumnal display in the Cathedral.
After this, the flower team will step back; they're a small team and they all have many calls on their time. There will still be flowers, but less regularly. If you are someone who could provide a flower display from time to time, you would be very welcome to do that. Please contact admin@saintspaulscathedral.net first, so that we can avoid duplication and make arrangements about access, watering and clearing away.

Support for Refugees: due to unsteady numbers we have decided to pause our drop in. However there are many ways in which you can offer support to the refugee community who are living in Dundee.
Broughty Ferry Baptist Church are often looking for donations of clothes, foodstuffs and toys to support this community. For a current list of things they need and more information on how to donate have a look at their Facebook page.

CHORAL SCHOLARSHIPS
For this choir year, the Cathedral is once again offering choral scholarships. These are a great opportunity for both children and students, so do share this information far and wide. Application forms can be found here. There are also application forms at the back of the church. Click on the flyers below for larger versions.
|
|
The 50 Club
One way you can support the choral scholarship scheme is by joining the 50 club.
It's a club of 50 people that commit to contributing £5 every month for a period of one year, and each month, one lucky member wins £50, with the rest of the money going to the choral scholarship fund. The amount of money raised can support up to 4 choral scholars for the year, and many of our existing choir members have benefited from the scheme.
If you'd like to get involved, pick up a 50 club booklet from the back desk in the cathedral. It contains all the information you need to get started.
