Principal's Message

Hello McGaugh Families,

Our Sea Lions engaged in an amazing week of making connections. PEACE Week was filled with activities to promote compassion and acceptance of everyone. We were so honored to have Brent Poppen visit our school and our classrooms to share his message of COMPASSION, ACCEPTANCE, and LOVE.  If you are interested in purchasing one of Mr. Poppen's books, please return this FORM to our office by WEDNESDAY. He will sign every book and personally deliver the books to the classrooms. Thank you, parents, for your participation with our PTA.  Your donations and participation in our fundraising events allowed us to fund such an important experience for our students!

Another highlight of Peace Week was empathy day, which featured McGaugh’s annual “Come Walk in my Shoes”. This event, first started in 1997 and since then has been replicated in other schools across the nation. It is a special hands-on program that involves all students and teachers and provides an avenue for them to explore the world of individuals who in their day-to-day lives also live with physical and or developmental challenges. “Come Walk in my Shoes” is about tolerance, comfort zones, and inclusion. It is truly a day for students to learn empathy, compassion, and awareness.

Do you have unopened, new toys or gift cards you won't use? Do you know a business owner that has an item or experience to donate? Do you have connections to tickets, events, weekend stays, activities, golf rounds, or lessons? PTA could really use the support to add some awesome items to our silent auction. We are especially in need or larger ticket items.

Jennifer Katz to arrange pick up.

Project SEEK Presents: Where Does the Money Go?-A quick look at Project SEEK Funded Teachers and Programs https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pt7Q1oGQbcrdiydkjPg3jBg-tO3FSsjJ/view?usp=sharing

Please take a minute to “meet” the amazing Project SEEK funded teachers who make it all possible and learn more about our Art and Technology programs at McGaugh!

Those smiling faces need your help!  Project SEEK is McGaugh's non-profit organization that raises money to fund our art lab, innovation/STEM lab and media center.  We fund three teachers' salaries and all the supplies for these labs to enrich the education of every McGaugh student. Research shows that art, innovation and media education encourage problem solving, creativity, and a growth mindset in all subject areas.

Our Goal this year is $75-$100 per family

If we raise $10,000 by Monday, 10/31, Mrs. Wood will take 10 pies to the face!

Every child who’s family donates will be entered into a raffle to be one of 10 children who get  to throw a pie in Mrs. Wood’s face!
