October

As the delights of Poorneet (tadpole) season emerge - flowers opening, eggs hatching, daylight and warmth increasing - we hope your heart is filled with possibilities.

As well as continuing along with the lectionary and our work life talks, we have two special Sundays coming up this month: our Spring-Poorneet Celebration on the 23rd and All Saints Day on the 30th.

In Kids' church, we're also exploring God's story through the lectionary, using the Mini Revolutions curriculum from Illustrated Ministry.

Join us at Yarrunga at 9.45am for a 10am start, or on Zoom at 10am-

You can pop your name on the Sunday roster here.

Coming up

On October 23 we're holding our annual Spring - Poorneet Celebration. Please bring along any baked goods, pieces from nature, or items you'd like to share (eg. art and craft, prayers, photos, poems).

Notes from September

Toli has explored with us some of the parables of Jesus recorded by Luke. Sometimes puzzling, ever surprising, the parables and their historical context have challenged and encouraged us to celebrate restoration, use earthly resources for heavenly good, have a generous and inclusive faith, and party with Jesus!

Click here for Toli's summary of "The magic community of the lost and found" (from Luke 15:1-10) and keep an eye out in the Signal group for more reflections.

Eagle reflections

Are you watching the Peregrine Falcons at 367 Collins Street? The parents have been competently caring for the four eyasses (chicks) and it's amazing watching this family grow and thrive.

Here is a reflection on another bird of prey, the eagle, by Janice MacLean of The Prayer Bench:

I have many favourite Psalms. Psalm 91 is one I love.

I’m spending time with these words this week. They seem “just for me.”

You protect me as an eagle shields
its young,
Your faithfulness is sure,
like an arrow set upon the mark.
I will not fear the shadows of the night,
nor the confusion that comes by day,
Nor the dreams that awaken me from
sleep,
nor the daily changes that
life brings.

(from Ps. 91 - Nan Merrill, Psalms for Praying)

What’s special about eagles? Here is what I am learning. Keep reading.

Prayer

May the God of green hope,
fill you up with joy,
fill you up with peace,
so that your trusting and believing life,
filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit,
will brim over with hope!

Walk the Wall

Well done to those involved in Walk the Wall last month, raising money to support the work of ICC with disabled and abandoned children in China.

We're just slightly short of our fundraising target - you can still donate here.
