Ignatian Challenge Cup 2022 - Results and Photos
The Crescent College Past Pupils Union annual Ignatian Challenge Cup, held in Limerick Golf Club, had a fantastic turnout this year of 67 players (men and ladies). We were thrilled to see so many old and new faces at the event and honoured to have many of our sponsors play on the day and particularly delighted that Limerick Golf Club’s Lady Captain Liz Griffin and its Chairperson of the Board of Management Vincent Jennings were able to play. Through the generosity of our sponsors, we raised a total of €3300.
The weather was kind and the course in Limerick Golf Club was in fantastic condition, with credit given to the ground staff led by Course Manager Kieran Donoghue.
The winner of the cup was Patrick Cumiskey (46 points) who has a fantastic score with an excellent round of golf. Congratulations Patrick and we look forward to your defence of your title at next year’s challenge. The ladies’ event was won by Sheila O’Malley with an outstanding score of 42 points. Our first lady winner of the Ignatian Challenge Cup cannot be too far away.

Annual Dinner on Sat 8th October 2022
Our Annual Dinner is just a couple of weeks away on Saturday 08 October 2022 at 7:30pm in the Strand Hotel Limerick. This is the first opportunity to hold the dinner since 2019 and we are very much looking forward to the evening.
The dinner provides a wonderful social opportunity for past pupils and staff of the Sacred Heart College and Crescent College Comprehensive SJ to meet up, renew old acquaintances and to make new ones. Tickets cost just €50 and are available through our website: crescentpast.com. Payment can be made by PayPall, Bank Transfer, Cheque or at the door (provided you reserve your ticket in advance).
As in previous years we are facilitating class groups and friends who may wish to sit together should space be available. Request for this type of specific arrangement can be made by sending an e-mail to the following address (tickets@crescentpast.com) with the number of seats requested, the class year and where possible the class name, and a contact number for further coordination purposes.
 At our dinner this year we will induct the distinguished comedian, presenter and author Mr Dermot Whelan (Castillo - 1991) onto our roll of honour of past alumnae. This will be a wonderful occasion and will provide an opportunity to appreciate the challenges and successes that have made Dermot Whelan what he is today.

Special Mass to commemorate Monsignor Tom Stack, Sun 16 October 2022
One of the many sad losses during the COVID pandemic was a true Crescent stalwart Monsignor Tom Stack who died in December 2020. Due to the restrictions in place it was not possible to hold a funeral or commemorative event for large numbers.
There are many of his friends who missed that opportunity and they have now arranged a commemorative mass and meet-up on the parish hall afterwards.
The Mass will be celebrated at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday, 16 October in the Church of St. Columbanus, St. Gall and Assumption of Our Lady, Milltown, Milltown Rd., Dublin 6.
There will be refreshments in the Parish Hall afterwards, and lunch, if desired, in the Radisson Hotel, Stillorgan.
Tom's friends in the Parish would like to welcome any of his old Limerick friends to come and remember Tom together. Paul Brady (086 2907820) organiser, is the person to be contacted in advance by anyone who is free to attend.
