Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

  • PVCC's new Charles T. Baber Leadership Program will have an introductory workshop this Wednesday, September 28 at 12:15 in Room M247 (please attend the 50th Anniversary Photo Shoot at 11:45 on the East Lawn before that time!). Learn how Self-Awareness is the first building block to leadership. Lunch provided!  If interested in being involved, even if you can't attend the three introductory workshops this semester, fill out this interest survey form or email gdavis@pvcc.edu. The second workshop about Group Dynamics / Collaboration will be on Wednesday, October 26; the third workshop about Community Building / Problem Solving will be on Wednesday, November 30. The full 10-week program will happen during the spring 2023 semester.
  • Interested in learning more about climate change or journalism today, Monday, 9/26 at 12:00 noon?  PVCC Geology Club and The Forum newspaper club present: ​Sarah Kaplan, climate and science reporter for The Washington Post. Join them in the Geology Lab, M850,​ or on Zoom.
  • PVCC is hosting a virtual Program Spotlight on PVCC's Skilled Trades programs on Tuesday, September 27 at 6:30pm. Registration required.  
  • Interested in developmental psychology? PVCC's Scrubs and Science Clubs are hosting a joint speaker event on Wed., September 28 at noon in Keats 210 featuring Dr. Corina Mariziano who will be sharing her research at UVA and her experiences navigating graduate school. 
  • PVCC has a number of employers who recruit on campus during the week. On Thursday, September 29, U.S. Army Reserve will be available between 10:30am - 2:00pm. Stop by and ask them about their job opportunities and how they can support you while in school!  United Parcel Service (UPS) will be on campus next Monday, October 3 from 11:30am-1:30pm. They are hiring for a number of positions including Package Handlers, Warehouse Workers, Drivers and more!
  • Sentara / Martha Jefferson Hospital is hosting a FUN hiring event at Bowlero on Tuesday, October 4 from 4-7:30pm. Bowling games, food and beverages provided by Sentara! They are hiring for a number of entry-level positions - Nursing Care Partners, ED Techs, Operating Room Attendants, and Sterile Processing Techs. There may be potential offers on site at the event!  Please RSVP by 4:00pm THIS Friday, Sept. 30.
  • Mark your calendar for the VEC "Live, Love & Work Virtual Job Fair" on Wednesday, October 5, 10am-2pm. A LARGE number of employers from around the state participate in this event.  Advance registration required.  
  • Attention techies who want to broaden their skills and meet other techies (including people who work at this company if you're interested in their jobs): GA-CCRi is hosting a free Community Hackathon on Friday, October 7, 1-5pm at 3Twenty3 in Downtown Charlottesville.

  • Verizon seeks a "part-time" (32-40 hours which seems like full-time to us!) Retail Sales Representative. We've had students report excellent earnings, good technical training and great benefits to this type of position (especially if you're a Verizon customer!).

  • Attention aspiring Chefs/Cooks: Culinary Concepts AB is accepting applications for its workforce training program. It's a 4 hours/day, 5 days/week commitment for 5 weeks.  The next class starts in early October.
