Just as we designed it

Through our collective work, including on the Annual Dinner stage, we have imagined what’s next. We have realized the infinite potential of all of us.

On Oct. 18 at Monona Terrace, we are welcoming Greg Hoffman, former chief of Global Brand Innovation for Nike, to help us take the next step by design. To build the Greater Madison we aspire to be.

We often think the design is the plan, but it is actually the purpose. It is our collective intent that drives action. At our sold-out 69th Annual Dinner, we will lean into design thinking and apply lessons learned from an iconic brand visionary to our companies, our teams and our work.

For the first time in three years, we returned this week to San Francisco for the culmination of our annual Pressure Chamber initiative. Between an in-person networking reception and meetings with coastal investors, the trip served as an opportunity to help emerging Greater Madison companies raise capital, build stronger connectivity to the Bay Area, and amplify our region's business brand and broader economic story.

Leading this year's delegation of up-and-coming companies was newly crowned Pressure Chamber champion Voximetry, a healthtech company with software designed to increase tumor response and overall survival in prostate cancer patients receiving Radiopharmaceutical Therapy. Voximetry’s Torch™ software is changing the Standard of Care by modeling patient-specific drug interactions and providing optimized treatment plans for each individual.

Also joining the Chamber’s delegation were representatives from the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, UW–Madison, Wisconsin Economic Development CorporationHealthX Ventures and Michael Best & Friedrich.

Now in its ninth year, Pressure Chamber has been recognized as an economic development best practice by the International Economic Development Council and was featured in Steve Case’s new book released this week.

Chamber Economic Inclusion Manager Adey Assefa will lead a discussion among diversity, equity and inclusion professionals on Oct. 11 at the Madison Concourse Hotel as part of this year's Wisconsin Leadership Summit.

Taking place Oct. 10-11 and hosted by 365 Media, the Wisconsin Leadership Summit is the premier professional development, networking and community-building event built for and by people of color.

In addition to the panel led by Adey and featuring leaders from UW–Madison, BMO Financial Group, Old National Bank and Humana, there are many great opportunities over the two-day summit to listen to thought leadership representing business, government, education and non-profits from around the state.

The Workforce Of Tomorrow Requires A Child Care System Fit For The Future

Fifty-six percent of employers now offer some child care benefits in 2022, according to Care.com’s “The future of benefits” report surveying 500 companies every year. By comparison, only 36 percent of companies offered child care benefits in 2019.

But, child care as an enabler to work may only be part of the news. In actuality, the pandemic has meaningfully transformed both work and family, and child care benefits are following suit.
