International Peace Day Ceremony 

A Wellington tradition since 2006, the Peace Day ceremony was held at our Rotary Peace Park on September 18th.  

The food trucks continue to take place at Village Park Fields 2 and 3 with concerts taking place behind the gymnasium at field 2.  This event has moved to Saturday evenings. 

Opening Day for the Lakeside Market is scheduled for Friday, October 7th.  Sixty-eight vendors have submitted applications; any remaining interested vendors are being added to a waitlist.  Bobby G will be the musical performance on the opening night of the market.  

The annual Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, October 15th from 3:00pm to 10:00pm at Village Park.


Wellington High School will be running a 5k event to benefit the Boys & Girls Cross Country team on October 16th from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. The course will be at Wellington High School utilizing the super field.

The Murder Mystery Dinner theme will be "Murder on the Bayou" and will take place on Saturday, November 5th at Village Park. Tickets are on sale now at Village Park and the Community Center.

Planning/Programs/Events: 

Meeting with Wellington Elementary: On Monday September 19th, our staff met with two school teachers from Wellington Elementary to prepare for an Afterschool Tutoring Program that will be located at the Community Service Building. We plan to provide assistance to Wellington Elementary and the Boys and Girls Club by providing a location for this tutoring program and by providing transportation for 30 students from Wellington Elementary to the Boys and Girls Club. All of the students attend both the School and the Club. A projected start date of Oct 3rd will be confirmed once all required documentation is received back from the school.
 
Zoom Meeting with Boys and Girls Club: On Tuesday September 20th, a zoom meeting was held to discuss the provided reimbursement documentation from the Summer Academic Program. This meeting provided us with updated documentation to proceed with the reimbursement process.

Tutoring at Boys and Girls Club:  Tutoring at the Boys and Girls Club continued this week on Monday, September 19th through Thursday, September 22nd.  Staff assists two groups of students per day for the tutoring program. Staff is selecting 10 students per group, so nearly 80 students participated in the tutoring program this week.
 
Mental Health Counseling at Boys and Girls Club:   On Monday September 19th and Wednesday September 21st, this program provided mental health counseling for Boys and Girls Club students. This program partnership provides students with the opportunity to open-up in a safe environment to discuss daily stresses, personal hardships, and reoccurring issues to enhance their mental well-being. This program will be concluding at the end of September.  All of our Palm Beach district school will have a Mental Health Counselor provided at each individual school.

Crossover Program:  On Saturday, September 24th, staff hosted the weekly basketball program at the Boys & Girls Club.  Approximately 25 participants are anticipated to engage in basketball activities.

Wellington’s Family Autofest (Rental with the Wellington Rotary Club):
The Wellington Rotary Club will host a “Wellington Family Autofest” on the first Sunday of each month.  The Autofest will feature classic cars and different types of vehicles along with children’s activities, sponsors, vendors, and food trucks.  All proceeds will go towards a different charity, selected by the Rotary Club, each month.

Public Safety Night:
Wellington is partnering with PBSO, PBCFR and other safety-minded organizations to join the Saturday evening concert (Hall and Oates tribute Band) and food truck series at Village Park. This event from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, will feature touch-a trucks (emergency vehicles), demonstrations, vendor info, and a special appearance from “Marshall and Chase”, (as seen on Paw Patrol) from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.

Western Ride Bicycle Ride:
Wellington is co-sponsoring this event with Western Ride, LLC (organized through resident Stephen Levin) to host the first "Western Ride" bicycle ride through Wellington on Sunday, October 9th from 6am to 12 pm.  The ride features 15 mile, 30 mile and 60 mile courses that will begin and end at Village Hall and travel throughout Wellington.  PBSO will assist with safety for the bicyclists when crossing major intersections and an ICS Command Center will be housed inside Village Hall to monitor activity and further ensure safety.  There will be a ribbon cutting by the Council and organizers at the start of the race.  The start time is 7 am.  

Florida LGBTQ+ Liaison Summit:
The first Florida LGBTQ+ Summit will be held from 8am to 5pm in the Wellington Community Center.  The Summit will feature guest speakers and breakout sessions throughout the day.  The event will provide an opportunity for allied local officials from across the State of Florida to connect and learn ways to engage the tools of local government to address the most pressing needs of their LGTBQ+ communities.  


Wellington High School Homecoming Parade: 
WHS will host its annual Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 14th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.  The parade will begin at Wellington Landings Middle School and travel to Wellington High School.  Public Works staff will work with PBSO to ensure a safe route for those participating.
 
Wellington’s Annual Fall Festival:
The Fall Festival returns in full format on Saturday, October 15th from 3 pm to 10 pm at Village Park.  The Haunted Hallways and face painting return this year to join two (2) costume contests, Laser Tag, Hayrides, Bounce Houses, Petting Zoo, and Trick-or-Treating in the Vendor’s Village. Pre-sale bracelet sales began on September 6th and will continue through October 14th. Prices will be $7 for youth (2-18) and $5 for adults (18 and over). Day of sales of bracelets will be $10 for youth and $5 for adults. Bracelets will be needed for all activities.  Free shuttles will run from the Mall at Wellington Green to Village Park throughout the event. 

Pop-Up Beer Gardens:
The Village will host two, three (3) day Autumn German-style Biergarten events featuring Hofbrauhas Bier from Munchen. In addition, German beer, US craft beer and cider, along with sausage, pretzels, and other German-themed foods will be available for purchase. Traditional music and stein-hoisting contests will round out the free, family-friendly experience. The events will be held at the Town Center in the green space and pavilion near the newly-built playground, on the following dates and times:
  • Friday, October 21, 2022 - 4:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Saturday, October 22, 2022 - 11:00am to 9:00pm
  • Sunday, October 23, 2022 - 11:00am to 7:00pm
The second Pop-Up Beer Garden will take place:

  • Saturday, November 19, 2022 - 11:00am to 9:00pm
  • Sunday, November 20, 2022 - 11:00am to 7:00pm
The Friday events will coincide with the Wellington Lakeside Market, which runs from October 7th, 2022 – February 24th, 2023.

Read for the Record:
The Village will once again participate in the 2022 Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County and Jumpstart’s “Read for the Record” on Thursday, October 27th. The featured book is Nigel and the Moon by Gracey Zhang.  This year, Jumpstart will continue to allow the book to be presented both virtually and in person.  Staff will contact the 16 participating Wellington schools, preschools and learning centers that participated last year to schedule readings or virtual showings of the book to students.  Copies of the book will be given to each school in their choice of English and/or Spanish language versions.  

FIP Championships Athlete Meet and Greet:
Wellington will host a “Meet and Greet” on the Promenade on Thursday, October 27th from 6 pm to 9 pm for the world-class athletes competing in the 2022 FIP World Polo Championships. The evening will include a DJ, Glow-Up performers, giveaways, interactive activities and more. Light food and refreshments will be served.  Council Members, USPA Board Members, dignitaries, the PBC Sports Commission as well as local business owners from the two (2) Chambers, will be invited to attend.

Tennis Center’s Father Daughter Tournament Dinner:
The Wellington Tennis Center will host the Level-1 USTA National Family Clay Court Championships the weekend of October 28th through October 30th. There will be play in multiple divisions and will feature player parties and lunch. Wellington will host a special player’s dinner at the Tennis Center that Saturday evening, October 29th at 6:00 p.m. Food will be catered by Agliolios Italian Restaurant.
On 9/19/22 at 7:41pm, a Deputy assigned to Wellington Green Mall was flagged down regarding a male in the mall engaged in a verbal argument with another male and threatening to get a gun.  The male exited the mall and retrieved a baton from his vehicle which he concealed and re-entered the mall.  The male was successfully intercepted by deputies and taken into custody without incident.  He was charged with Felon in Possession of a Weapon.  There was no further threat to the community. 
 
On 9/20/22 at 8:45am, Wellington High School went Code Yellow after receiving information that a student may have brought a weapon to school.  School Board Police’s investigation revealed that the student’s information was not credible and no weapons were located.
 
On 9/23/22 at 2:52pm, a domestic incident occurred near the Macy’s parking lot involving the parents of a 2-month-old infant who had ongoing domestic issues.  The father threatened the mother, took the child from the mother’s vehicle and left the area with the infant in his car.  Special thanks to PBSO K9 Deputy Tapia for quickly spotting the vehicle.  The vehicle was stopped and the child secured without incident.  Drugs and related paraphernalia was discovered in the father's vehicle and he was subsequently arrested for burglary and assault.
 
On 9/24/22 at 12:06pm, another success to report through the assistance of the LPR cameras.  A truck was reported stolen from Boca Raton Police Department and deputies were alerted to an LPR hit on the vehicle at Lyons Road and Forest Hill Boulevard.  With the assistance of K9, Aviation, Lt. Shaivitz and D8 deputies, units were able to safety seize the vehicle on Boynton Beach Blvd. just east of 441 without incident.  Investigation revealed that is was an overdue U-Haul rental due to billing error and no arrests were made.

Vehicle Burglaries:  There were four (4) vehicle burglaries during the reporting period:
  • Two (2) occurred in Emerald Forest whereby unknown suspects followed by a Dodge Durango, tried multiple vehicle door handles, subsequently gaining entry to two unlocked vehicles.  Nothing was taken from one vehicle and $16 cash, a cellphone cord, and change purse was stolen from the other vehicle.  Surveillance footage captured and investigation continues.
  • One (1) occurred near Wyndcliff Drive.  Suspect stole cellphone charger and two blank checks from inside the vehicle.  Investigation continues.
  • One (1) occurred near Office Depot near 441.  Victim left computer bag and check for $41,000 in unlocked car.  This case is open.
Stolen Vehicle: One (1) stolen motorcycle reported last week near Oli’s Cuisine.  Victim still has possession of the keys. No video surveillance.
 
Fraud Suspect Identified for Three (3) Cases in Wellington.   A victim reported last week that $5,000 was withdrawn from their account at the Chase Bank on Greenview Shores.  Charges against the suspect were filed with the State Attorney’s Office including grand theft, criminal use of personal ID, and fraudulent use of credit card.
 
Vandalism: One (1) report last week near LA Fitness.  Unknown suspect broke the window of victim’s vehicle.  Video surveillance available. 
 
Golf Carts; One (1) incident involving a golf cart was reported last week.  Complainant near Binks Forest reported juveniles on golf carts and skateboards made threats to him and also threatened to vandalize his property.
Emergency Management
 
Emergency Management Officials have been monitoring and preparing the Village throughout the weekend for anticipated impacts from Hurricane Ian.  Storm Water and Utilities teams have prepared our systems in anticipation of heavy/excessive rainfall and the potential for power outages due to windy weather.   As of 9/26/22 Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 22-219 Declaring a State of Emergency for all 67 counties in Florida.
 
Flood Control Workshop on Tuesday, September 27 at 10:00am.   Wellington invites the public to attend the Community’s Role in Flood Control Workshop via ZOOM.  The workshop is designed for residents, property managers, and community board members who are responsible for the operation and maintenance of their drainage system. Attendees will hear from South Florida Water Management District, Wellington Flood Control Officials, and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Risk Reduction Division.  For those needing Community Association Management Continuing Education Units (CEU’s), two (2) hours are available to those attending.  The event is FREE and open to the public.    Registration can be found at wellingtonfl.gov.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue CPR and Stop the Bleed Training.  The community is invited to attend Palm Beach County Fire Rescue’s FREE CPR and Stop the Bleed Training and learn how to save a life.  The training will be held on Friday, October 7th from 6-8pm at the Wellington Community Center.
Building

Wellington Bay ILF:  Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) has been issued for the Independent Living Facility (ILF) 6-story tower and the first residents have moved into their new apartments. Amenities portion of the TCO is awaiting Final Fire Department approval.
 
FL Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) 3rd Annual Building Officials Breakfast:  Wellington Building Department will be hosting Annual Building Officials Breakfast Meeting on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Wellington Community Center. The purpose of the meeting is to continue the cooperation of DBPR with the local building departments to address unlicensed/unpermitted activities. The meeting agenda includes a guest speaker, Mr. Ian Brown, Chief Construction Attorney, Office of General County (OGC), discussing the DBPR complaint process and disciplinary actions, FS. 489.103 Exemptions, Aiding and Assisting, and Sweeps on Owner Builder Permits.
 
Milestone Inspections:  Recently passed Senate Bill (SB) 4D requires condominium associations and cooperative associations to perform milestone inspections for each building that is three stories or more in height by December 31st of the year in which the building reaches 30 years of age, based on the date the certificate of occupancy for the building was issued, and every 10 years thereafter. If the building is located within three miles of a coastline (not applicable to Wellington), the condominium association or cooperative association must have a milestone inspection performed by December 31 of the year in which the building reaches 25 years of age, based on the date the certificate of occupancy for the building was issued, and every 10 years thereafter. The condominium association or cooperative association must arrange for the milestone inspection to be performed and is responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of this law. Wellington Building and GIS staff are in the process of identifying the respective structures in Wellington and will notify affected associations. This requirement does not apply to a single-family, two-family, or three-family dwelling units with three or fewer habitable stories above ground. Code Compliance

Binks Preserve: Code Compliance Staff met with the Binks Preserve HOA concerning parking enforcement.  Code staff will begin early AM and PM parking inspections in addition to RV storage inspections.  It was explained Wellington code officers will only enforce Wellington ordinances and not HOA covenants. 
 
Sturbridge:  Code Compliance Staff is working closely with the Sturbridge HOA concerning the replacement of their perimeter fence after an inspection found the fence is deteriorated in multiple sections.  Staff is scheduling a meeting with the HOA. 
 
Planning and Zoning

Lagoon/Estates at Equestrian Village: The second review of the development applications and related material for the proposed land use and master plan changes to the Wellington PUD and Wellington CountryPlace PUD is complete and the comments are being forwarded to the applicant/agent. The response and resubmittal must be provided by October 5th to be tentatively scheduled for the November 2nd Equestrian Preserve Committee.
 
Strategic Planning
 
Blue Ways Plan: Consistent with Wellington’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan, a Blue Ways Plan has been developed which identifies Wellington’s waterways, i.e. lakes and canals, as recreational amenities. The plan highlights specific  improvements that would allow residents to access both Lake Wellington and Lake Greenview Shores, as well as connect several waterways. The plan will be presented to Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board (PZAB) in October, followed by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) in late October. The Blue Ways Plan will then be presented to Council in November for adoption.

OPERATIONS HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Department has spent considerable time and effort over the last week preparing for a possible storm event including refreshers on Damage Assessment procedures, debris cleanup, portable generator deployments and topping off chemicals and fuels at our facilities. 
  • Performed 35 disconnects for non-payment last week and hung 82 door hangers for possible disconnection this week (over $100 threshold balance). 
  • Current meter No Reads are now at 624.  After we completed the Pedal Valve Phase 1 Endpoint Replacement project we have started to see new battery failures at a slower pace.  The Department retains an inventory of approximately 1,500 endpoints to respond to rising No Reads. 
  • Utility GIS continues to coordinate with Public Works to create a Village-wide GIS layer of landscape areas requiring lawn mowing and trimming to assist with Contractor bidding services.
  • WTP demands are slightly above where they were this time last year

CIP PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
  • The following projects are in active state of construction. Major weekly milestones are as follows:
    • Florida Design Contractors - HPP8 and Post Treatment Improvement Project – Final punch list work is pending delivery of a flowmeter.  The contractor is developing a price for additional work on the degas system.  This project is substantially complete.  
    • Hinterland - Lift Station Phase II Rehab – Hinterland is working on final punch list items.  Project hatches will require repair.  This project is substantially complete.
    • Wharton Smith - WTP R & R Project - Finishing work in the HSP building employee spaces on the 1st and 2nd floor continues.  The contractor will work on cleaning dust from the MCC from construction activities this week and planning the MCC AC into operation for dust control.  
    • WRF Generator Improvements and PLC Replacement Project –  Duct bank installation halted due to dewatering issues.  Further work on hold at this time.    
    • Well Rehab Phase 4 - Well R4 is back in service.  Work on Well R9 on hold due to Hurricane Ian.    
    • Booster Station and HSP Improvements Phase 1—Painting is underway at Booster Station 2.  Submittals for this project are under review.

Construction Projects

Town Center:
Opening of the phase 1 parking lot was scheduled for September 19th.  Unfortunately, the opening has been delayed by at least one week due to power supply and pavement striping issues.  Wellington will have beneficial use of the parking area during the day only, until the contractor achieves final CO.  Wellington’s project manager and the Construction Manger are vigorously working towards completion of this phase.    Phase 2 of the project has commenced and is underway.  The Amphitheater and Scott’s Place are closed to the public and will remain so for the duration of the project.  The final substantial completion date is scheduled for April 5th, 2023.

Aero Club Landscaping: 
Construction continues for this project.  Currently the contractor is installing the secondary irrigation system.  The contractor has missed the substantial completion deadline for this project of September 7th, 2022.  Engineering staff is working diligently with the contractor to assist them with completing the project as quickly as possible.

Golf Cart Pathway Expansion (Pierson Road, between Birkdale and Stribling):

Greenview Shores Park Safety Netting: 
The contractor was scheduled to begin work during the week of 09/12/2022.  Unfortunately, they have not been able to obtain security clearance to work on school property as of this week.

Design Projects

Big Blue Trace Landscaping and Traffic Calming (South Shore Blvd. to Paddock): 
This project includes the installation of traffic calming features, landscaping, and irrigation along Big Blue Trace between South Shore Boulevard and Paddock Drive. 
Status:  Design phase. 

Public Works Storage Building: 
This project will facilitate the storage needs for the Public Works Department, with the anticipated demolition of the Old Boys and Girls Club at the South Shore Community Park.  The proposed building will be a 10,000sf pre-fabricated structure.  The Engineering department is currently working on a performance specification and site plan for the building at the Public Works Facility. 
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenbriar Park Restrooms: 
This project consists of a new restroom building at the Greenbriar Park Facility.  The current facility has reached its useful life and is in disrepair.  The current facility is also on septic drainfield facilities.  This project will also include permanent sanitary sewer facilities, which the current facility does not have. 
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenbriar Park Disc Golf Study: 
This project consist of a nine hole disc (Frisbee) golf facility to be incorporated into Greenbriar Park.  The engineering department will be working directly with Jake Hampu, Founder of the Unified Dream Organization to prepare a conceptual disc golf course layout within the open field area of Greenbriar Park. 
Status:  Conceptual Design phase. 

Greenbriar Park Pickle Ball Courts: 
This project includes outdoor pickle ball courts adjacent to the existing Volleyball Courts at the Greenbriar Park facility.  This project is currently in the conceptual phase.   
Status:  Conceptual Design phase. 

50th Street Assessment Project: 
This project includes construction of a 2-lane asphalt roadway along 50th street, between Ousley Farms Road and South Road.  Engineering is currently managing the design and assessment reporting for this project.  Currently, Mock Roos has prepared 90% design plans, the final Plan of Improvements, and the final Engineers report.
Status:  Final Design phase. 

PBSO Substation Needs Analysis and Preliminary Site Plan: 
This project includes a facility needs assessment, and a preliminary site plan analysis for the construction of a new PBSO substation at Town Center.  Leo Daly has completed the needs analysis portion of the project.  Next they will be developing a conceptual site plan for a facility at the Town Center property.  We anticipate this being completed by November 15th
Status:  Preliminary Planning phase. 

PBSO Existing Building Assessment: 
This project consist of the inspection of the current PBSO substation at 14000 Greenbriar Boulevard.  The engineering department is preparing a building hardening recommendation and report for this building.
Status:  Analysis phase. 

Tennis Center Expansion (Master Plan):
This project consists of the planning of the ultimate buildout of the tennis center at 3100 Lyons Rd.  Mock Roos has prepared preliminary plans and cost estimate to support this effort.   
Status:  On Hold

ACME Stormwater Modeling: 
Staff is working in coordination with Mock Roos to develop an updated stormwater model, utilizing the latest version of the ICPR (Inter-Connected Pond Routing) software.
Status:  Final Report due in November.

ACME Big Blue Preserve Pump Station: 
This project consist of the refurbishment of the pump station for the Big Blue Cypress Preserve.  Engineering is coordinating with public works to move the existing pump station into ACME right of way.  The pump station currently lies within an easement, outside of ACME right of way.
Status:  Procurement Phase

ACME Culvert 130 Refurbishment: 
This project consist of the refurbishment of an existing major stormwater culvert along the C-7 Canal.  The culvert is within the Palm Beach Polo Subdivision and an ACME easement.  Engineering will coordinate closely with the Palm Beach Polo POA to minimize the disruption to the neighborhood.

C-2 Multipurpose Pathway: 
This project consist of the construction of a 10ft wide pathway along the C-2 Canal, between Greenview Shores Blvd. and Bent Creek Road. 
Status:  Design phase. 

C-8 Multipurpose Pathway: 
This project consist of the construction of a 10ft wide pathway along the C-8 Canal, between Stribling Way and Forest Hill Blvd.  This project is currently in the design phase.
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenview Shores Bike Lanes:
This project includes the addition of traffic calming features and bicycle lanes along Greenview Shores Blvd. between Binks Forest Drive and Wellington Trace. 
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenbriar Boulevard Bike Lanes:
This project includes the addition of traffic calming features and bicycle lanes along Greenbriar Blvd. between Aero Club Drive and Greenview Shores Blvd. 
Status:  Design phase. 

Wellington Trace & Primrose Lane Traffic Calming: 
This project includes the addition of a Mini Round-a-bout at the intersection of Primrose Lane and Wellington Trace.  This project is currently in the procurement phase. 
Status:  Procurement phase. 

Wellington Trace/Big Blue Trace: 
This project includes the addition of permissive only left turn lane arrows along the Wellington Trace approaches to Big Blue Trace (N/S).  This project also includes the extension of the southbound left turn lane to accommodate the additional vehicle storage needed for the protected turn movement.

Appaloosa Bridle Trail: 
This project consist of drainage improvements for the public Bridle Trail between Appaloosa Trail and Greenbriar Blvd. within the Saddle Trail South Subdivision.  
Status:  Design phase. 

Little Ranches – Bridge Restoration: 
This project consist of the refurbishment of the old Little Ranches Subdivision Bridge to accommodate pedestrian and recreational use.

Welcome Sign / Southern Blvd.: 
This project consist of adding a “Welcome to Wellington” sign on the NW corner of the Municipal Boundary, which is generally at the Flying Cow/Southern Blvd. Intersection.  An AT was transmitted on 08/23/2022 regarding the specifics for this project.

Traffic Studies / Issues

Traffic Calming/Vision Zero:  Engineering is coordinating the implementation of Vision Zero Resolution 2022-15 and the Complete Streets Resolution 2022-16.

Private Utilities

The Engineering Department continues to monitor construction and assist residents with damage claims as needed.  Currently we are seeing substantial construction activity in the Sugar Pond Manor area with improvements being made to the AT&T infrastructure.
Environmental Services, Neighborhood Parks & Equestrian Trails
  • Continue to service residents with scheduled mosquito spraying and bee removal requests.
  • Installed twelve (12) new concrete slabs in preparation for installation of trashcans at Greenbriar Park (Dog Park).
  • Repaired water drinking fountain at Greenbriar Park (Volleyball).
  • Completed replacing wood boundaries around the volleyball courts at Greenbriar Park.
  • Pressure cleaned the boardwalk at Wellington Rotary Peace Park.
  • Completed setup and breakdown of the World Peace Day Ceremony on Sunday, September 18th at Wellington Rotary Peace Park.
Landscape Maintenance & Nuisance Abatement
  • Cleaned up palm debris, Village wide.
  • Began installing mulch to landscape beds along Forest Hill Boulevard and at Village Hall.
  • Continue landscape renovations at Village Hall (Town Center project), and the entry walls along Big Blue Trace, Skipton Avenue, South Shore Boulevard, and Wiltshire Village Drive.
  • Began preparations for the upcoming tree planting with the Wellington Garden Club for National Public Lands Day on September 24th.
  • Began preparations for installation of winter annual flowers, Village wide.
  • Completed irrigation maintenance along Westhampton Circle.
  • Continue preventative irrigation maintenance, Village wide.
Building Maintenance
  • Replaced various lighting fixtures at Olympia Park, PBSO Substation, Village Park, and Wellington Community Center.
  • Replaced three (3) security cameras at the Aquatics Center.
  • Began installation of horse crossing flashers along 50th Street.
  • Completed various building maintenance repairs at the Aquatics Center, PBSO Substation, Public Works, Tennis Center, Village Park, Waste Water Treatment Facility, and Wellington Community Center.
  • Pressure cleaned various areas at the Forest Hill Boat Ramp, Town Center Promenade, and Village Park.
Roads & Roadside Refuse
  • Cleaned up storm debris, Village wide.
  • Backfilled sidewalk sections along Montauk Drive.
  • Completed asphalt repair along Bent Creek Road.
  • Completed installing horse crossing flashers along 50th Street.
  • Completed pothole maintenance on various roads, Village wide.
  • Pressure cleaned sidewalk sections along Forest Hill Boulevard.
  • The sign shop continues creating signs for replacing damaged signs and various department requests, as needed.
Surface Water Management & Preserve Maintenance
  • Clean debris from various canal ends and pump stations, Village wide.
  • Murray Logan began installation of rip-rap along the C-2 Canal.
  • Began miscellaneous swale reconstruction, Village wide.
Aquatics and Sport Facilities
  • Continue with daily maintenance of pool pumps at the Aquatics Center.
  • Continue with daily inspections at the Aquatics Center and Tennis.
  • Continue with daily athletic field mowing and maintenance on all fields, Village wide.
  • Continue maintaining turf at Amphitheater and Patriot Memorial.
  • Continued building the Haunted House for the Fall Festival.
  • Installed new sand filter for the Kids Pool at the Aquatics Center.
  • Began preparations for the installation of new booster pump for the pool at the Aquatics Center.
  • Installed new nets onto the soccer goals at Village Park.
Custodial Services
  • Continue cleaning and sanitizing facilities, Village wide.
  • Completed setup and breakdown of the World Peace Day Ceremony on Sunday, September 18th at Wellington Rotary Peace Park.
OFMB
Delinquent Utility Accounts: There were 35 disconnects scheduled for the week ending September 23, 2022. 
 
Purchasing
Bids/RFPs/RFQs:
  • RFQ 202214 - Architectural and Engineering Services for the Construction of an Aquatics Facility – Authorization to Negotiate was presented at the September 6th Council meeting.  A negotiation session was held on September 15th.  Contract award consideration is scheduled to be presented at the November 9th Council meeting.    
A cone of silence is in effect for the RFQ listed above.  All questions or concerns regarding any such solicitations should be directed to the Purchasing Department.

Budget
The Fiscal Year 2023 budget was approved by Council on September 21, 2022 and it has been filed and submitted.    

Audit
Staff is working with Grau & Associates onsite to begin the annual audit for the year ending September 30, 2022.
