AAMI Go! Summit - Call for Proposals/DEADLINE October 14th
The 2022 AAMI “GO! Summit – The Intentionality of Excellence - A Deliberate Journey” 

The AAMI GO! Summit Call for Proposals is now OPEN. Presented by the African American Male Initiative of the Office of Minority Educational Development a division of Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion. The one-day Summit with a focus on male students of color will host a dynamic keynote speaker and engaging breakout sessions. The Summit facilitates life-changing relationships and networking opportunities by bringing together students, faculty, staff, corporate partners and community leaders from across the GT community and beyond. 

The 2022 GO! Summit will offer educational, informative, and enlightening sessions that enable Summit participants to experience engaging, empirical, and interactive learning opportunities. The AAMI GO! Summit committee seeks session proposals from diverse leaders, scholars, and educators that engage attendees in the topics below:   
  • Social Emotional Well-being 
  • Marketing Yourself for Industry or Academia  
  • Men’s Health  
  • Healthy Relationships  
  • Planning for Generational Wealth 
This year, the GO! Summit would like to feature interactive workshop-style breakout sessions in which proposals should include a learning activity.  We strongly encourage session proposals that motivate, inspire, and educate African American and Hispanic male students to succeed in school and beyond. Proposals should describe the purpose of the session, learning objectives, and expected outcomes.  Please click the link to submit your proposal.

"Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation"   

 Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) events at Georgia Tech celebrate and recognize the economic, scientific, cultural, and social contributions of Hispanics and Latinos in the  United States and beyond. The Office of Hispanic Initiatives (OHI) coordinates efforts with several Institute units and Hispanic/Latino student organizations in organizing the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration from mid-September to mid-October. Inspiring Radical Creativity: Empowering Diverse Voices to Tell Their Own Stories, feat. Gabby Rivera

As part of Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’s Intercultural Lecture Series, the 2022 Hispanic Heritage Month lecture will feature Gabby Rivera, writer, speaker, storyteller, and author of Juliet Takes a Breath and the Marvel comic series America. A limited number of autographed books will be raffled.
Co-sponsored by Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (IDEI), the GoSTEM Program, and the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI).

The legal landscape for LGBTQIA individuals is constantly evolving on a national and local level.  On a regular basis, you can find a myriad of articles providing interpretations of court cases or legislation with differing levels of afforded protections.  But what does that mean for GT students, faculty and staff?  Through this facilitated dialogue with ​Alexis Martinez EdD, JD (she/her), Executive Director of the Office of Equity & Compliance Programs, learn more about the policies and resources currently provided​. Additionally, we will explore what the future​ may look like on the state and/or federal level, particularly with new proposed regulations to Title IX and recent court decisions from around the Southeast.

TAP - The Achievement Pitch Competition
Are you passionate about addressing social and environment issues that are impacting communities of color? Does your idea need seed funding to go beyond just an idea? If so, we want to invite you to participate in this year’s 2022 The Achievement Pitch, or TAP, College Social Enterprise Business Social Competition. This year's winners will win either $2,500.00 or $1,250.00 in prize money!
 
The Achievement Pitch (TAP) is a student-based, social enterprise pitch competition to address social and environmental challenges in communities of color while encouraging and advancing entrepreneurship among college students.  It involves creating, submitting, and presenting original, innovative content in business and social venture concepts. 

Plans will be presented to a panel of judges for evaluation based on a) content and concept, b) impact on a community of color, and c) venture viability.  Two (2) monetary awards totaling $3,750 ($2,500 and $1,250) will be awarded to this year’s 1st and 2nd place winners.

This year’s event will take place on November 8th on the Georgia Tech Campus!

Gilman Scholarship Deadline

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students of limited financial means from all majors to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. How to Afford Study Abroad

This session will discuss the impact of program choice on overall study abroad costs, discuss study abroad scholarships like the OIE Administered Scholarshipscampus study abroad scholarships, national scholarship and fellowship opportunities, and we'll also discuss other tips for funding international experiences.
 
OIE Scholarship Deadline
Oct. 15 at 11:59pm
The Office of International Education (OIE) administers a number of scholarships exclusively for Tech students who study abroad on a Tech program. Students apply for all OIE scholarships they are eligible for with one application. The average award is about $2,500 and this is a competitive process. There are additional scholarships available and please let us know if you have questions.

Georgia Tech Data Days are almost here!

The signature event of the Data Excellence initiative, Georgia Tech Data Days, Oct. 11-14, is a week-long series of sessions and collaborative events that center around the value, management, and protection of data at Georgia Tech. The week kicks off with a virtual fireside chat on Tuesday, Oct. 11, and will culminate with a symposium on Friday, Oct. 14, in the Global Learning Center. The sessions and events held throughout the week are open to students, executive leaders, faculty, researchers, and staff with an interest in data science, analytics, business intelligence, dashboards and reporting, and/or data protection at the Institute.

The campus community is also invited to submit a poster presentation for the Oct. 14 symposium poster session.
